Have or had all 3 major providers. Sprint gets no signal anywhere near what one would call "close" to here. Have Verizon in car with booster, have to drive about 2 miles to get a signal at the shopping center at 25A and Wading River Manorville Road. Have AT&T on the Treo and get 4 bars in driveway, 0-1 bars inside the house. This is no doubt caused by the aluminum foil facing on the house insulation. Theres a AT&T Tower near the Winebago joint west of Wading River Manorville Rd.on Route 25A which is about 6,200 feet from me. I think the closest Verizon is at Shoreham Power plant site which is about twice as far away. I can pretty much maintain a signal from my house to Port Jeff ferry all along North Country Road. Lose voice contact in one of the dips in the road but usually call doesn't drop and can hear caller again about a half mile later. Get good signal on both east end forks though in Greenport if I cam close enough to water, I will pick up a tower in Connecticut sometimes rather than a Long Island one. No worries, at laast not with free long distance. Can maintain call easily all the way from home to NYC and Albany via Port Jeff ferry (lose it for about 10 minutes on Route 8 on Connecticut / Massachussets border tho). Also lose signal sometimes in desolate locations on Route 17 to Buffalo. Kept Verizon account active in car to take advantage for built in hands free for a year but never did find a spot where I had Verizon signal and no AT&T signal so saw no need for 2 carriers and dropped Verizon service and use BT headset with AT&T while driving.

Not that good service. The order in my area from 1 being best is: 1. Verizon, 2. AT&T / Cingular, 3. Nextel, 4. Sprint, 5. T-Mobile.

No reception in my house. I have to go outside to talk. I also flew to Baltimore in Sept 03. No reception in BWI terminal. I had to take a hike in the rain until I found a location outside (again) where my phone worked.
