Verizon signal much poorer than one year ago. Many calls lost due to 0-1 bar of signal using both an older model and a newer model of phone. Other companies have improved their signal in this area while Verizon's signal has diminished in quality.

I must admit my Verizon service has the best coverage of all my friends who utilize a broad range of services. To add to that, Verizon's customer service is by far better than the complaints I hear from my freinds with T-Mobile, Cingular and Sprint. Verizon is not the "cheapest" but for my money the most reliable and thats important to me and my business.

Reception was better a year ago. OK most of the time but seems to be getting worse. Could be the phone (older model).

Cingular GSM has great reception in this area. AT&T TDMA was pretty poor (you would have to stand out in the street to get a barely usable signal), and Verizon's reception was barely better.

Not using near "tree" tower at Hutch Pkwy, but little one at NorthSt? Service failures in ice storms, sometimes for hours or days. Once Verizon insisted it was phone, but I had three different models, none worked. Overall, good service. Bars generally at 5 but occasionally at 2. Neighbors have nextel, very good.

Never take T-Mobile. The most pathetic service, by far, in new york metro area. And the customer service is pathetic too. I am a heavy cell phone user and get an average monthly bill of about $175. This time, my mom-in-law expired and I got delayed in paying my bill. When I came back from India, I paid the bill but saw $5 as late charge fee. $5 is not a big amount but I called T-Mobile to get it refunded because of my reason and moreover, it was the first time I was late. T-Mobile rep said : " I am sorry for the death in your family, $5 late fee is a standard charge, it will not be refunded" I could not believe it. It was so pathetic. I will never go back to them. $5 amount was so pathetic to piss off a customer like me who has been averaging about $200 per month. And worst of all, T-Mobile has the worst coverage among all the phone companies. I have used verizon, cingular, Nextel and now t-mobile. But T-Mobile was the worst among all. Undoubtedly

Most of the time outside there is minimal reception--one bar or zero bars and the battery on my phone dies quickly. Inside my home there is absolutely no reception and phone goes into roaming mode and then energy save mode.

The i860 is exceptionally well with holding a signle, and due to iDEN technology the signle indecator does flucuate for about a second, besides that crystal clear calls. No complaints. DC Saves time and Money, Get Nextel.

Nextel i730 - Current - Best Service I've gotton with all the Carriers that I've tried. Spotter service in rual areas such as Vermont but hey thats VT. As for the NY Metro area, excellent service except scaresdale but rich bastads complain about cell phone towers anyway so of course theres no service in that area. I recommend Nextel as they are growing more and more slowly moving ot 6:1 Interconnect insted of the old 3:1 interconnect, calls are always clear except when hardly any signal. On the metro north, the cell phone looked for service in a non service area while in a call, while my friend with the same phone had no service but was not in a call. So if your already in a call, the radio will look for a signle, have not gottno a true dropped call due to service but due to a network error on the other side. Cons: Somtimes call will not go thru when calling a t-mobile customer. Verizon - So so Service this about 4 years ago (Motorola T2260). T-mobile - Excelent service in the area, about 2 years ago. Overloaded Circcuit Error oftend (Samsung R225m). ATT Wireless [GSM] - Decent Service for a GSM coverage. Constent Dead spots, worst service indoors. Spotty Coverage on the Main St of the city. Many Dropped Calls. This was before the merge, about 6 months ago (NEC 525).
