Surprised nobody has posted an update yet. Woodstock went from no reception over the past couple years to plentiful reception. Permanent tower has replaced the "test" tower and now has Cell One AND Verizon. That means you have a choice of Cell One, ATT / Cingular (roams off Cell One), T-Mobile (roams off Cell One), Verizon and Sprint (roams off Verizon anywhere, at least in northeast). Just got Sprint and it has 4 bars in town. Neither Sprint nor Verizon have updated their maps, but trust me, it works.

Great reception from AT&T in the area. The only problem is I think it's through an off-net agreement with another carrier and that they don't actually operate the cell themselves. If you read their fine print, this gives them the right to cancel your service if you incur 750 minutes or 40% of your Anytime Minutes, whichever is less, for two consecutive months.

I Dropped Verizon No service... Got a Iphone Great reception with ATT.

None of my friends have Cell One, and none get service in town anywhere. I switched over awhile ago and I get perfect reception everywhere, by the Millstream, rec fields, green, everywhere.

No service. When I complain to Verizon Wireless they constantly tell me that there is a tower and that there's no reason for me not to have service. No one in this area gets ANY service on their cell phone. Those I speak to say that as soon as their contract expires they're switching to Cingular(ATT) because that company has excellent reception here. Verizon is definitly misrepresenting when they tell their customers that they have a tower in this area.

Listen, about the cell towers, NO ! There is no need for them. If you have cell one there is no reception problem, don't tell your friends that it's a great excuse. Everyone knows there is no reception there so you can just say I was in Woodstock and didn't get your call. If you really need to contact someone walk your lazy butt to the many pay phones and make the call. The Tree Huggers have nothing to do with why there isn't a cell tower because they don't have cell phones you ignorant fools. Let me just set the record straight if you really want a 100ft tower put one in your front lawn. Bet you didn't see that one coming.

will there be any reception in the near future at mount tremper, ny in the catskill mountain nature preserve

My entire family has the same problem at our house. no serive inside and we sometimes get 4 bars outside but it always seems to drop the call at some point. I would love another cell tower.

Nextel is NoTel in Woodstock NY. Bunch of tree huggers dont want a tower.

Normally I get no GSM reception in Woodstock (I'm a T-Mobile customer). But once about a month ago, and again today, I'm picking up a strong signal that declares itself Cellular One DCS (and that I can use on roam) - perhaps they are testing the new tower?
