I've noticed that everyone complaines about every service. None are perfect and neither is mine. I have to say though my AT&T has been quite reliable. My biggest complaint is a tiny dead zone at the end of my street near Crackel Rd.and ST. RT. 306 and the valleys on Pettibone Road. I just plan on a drop there, although not always. I've been everywhere in Greater Cleveland / Akron / Canton and expect to have service almost anywhere- even in most buildings to some degree (except when your buried deep in a hospital or comm. bldg). I don't text and have a simple flip phone. When I make a call I'm shocked if I don't have service. I do have trouble in some basements which is probably normal. I was going to look for cheaper service but don't want to lose my reliability in trade. The aggravation won't be worth it- especially if I commit with o testing it. I don't know if smart phones i- touches and pads or whatever will work as well as my simple flip.

Phone shows 0 or 1 bar max. Will not connect and can't use roaming. Where is the nearest tower?

Had Verizon for about 3 years. Signal averaged between 1 to 2 bars. Sometimes would get no service. Switched to Alltel and have seen all four bars. I believe their transmitter is located on top of the water tower in front of Veto's. I lose a bar when I am by the tower next to the high school. The tower by the high school appear's to carry Verizon, (Since that was the only place my old phone would get all four bars at.) and as a fact, (posted in the local newspaper.) T-Moble is located at the very top of that tower after adding a 15 foot extention. I don't know the other three providers.

Alltel is the only carrier that works consistently here. I have owned and cancelled ATT, Cingular, Nextel. Too bad Alltel doesn't have a worthwhile Smartphone option. I switched to Verizon to get a Treo a couple of weeks ago. So far, so good. Maybe a 4 - Good rating.
