I made a comment on this buildout a few years ago when Verizon wireless leased the property on Gaysport hill road hopping that the buildout would have happened sooner than now. In the last 3 months 3 cell sites are up even though the one just south of Zanesville is temporary till spring but it is a breath of fresh air being able to hold a phone call out of town to Blue Rock. The Services even works down in the park that had no service at all unless you had a Nextel phone. As far as I know the other cell site to light it all up to McConnelsville is in the works by Rockaby Locks. Got to love it when AT&T dont have service and there local phone lines wont support dialup internet anymore and have 3g service! Bring on the iPhones on Verinzon.

I keep hearing, "Be patient! More towers will be going in." I've been hearing that for years. The fact is that they have written off SE Ohio, and that will never change. 20 years from now, I still won't get a signal in my house. There's a new tower in Blue Rock State Forest for the emergency network, like 911. Would Verizon even think of doing a piggyback arangement with them? NO. Not now, not ever. You can only really use the phone in Zanesville, other major cities, or on the expressway. It doesn't even work in Duncan Falls... and it never will. Don't sign up with them... if you actually want to be able to make and receive calls. If you want camera phones, games, internet access... when you are in a city... you might like it. But if you want a phone you can actually use in SE Ohio, it's a lost cause. We only get the extended network analog signal, if we get anything, and it is useless.

Of course no one really covers this area right now. As of the begining to the year Verizon will be putting up a tower in this area in the next couple of months. Can't waite till it is up and running.
