No reception within the basement and the first floor of house. About 1 bar outside, and 5 bars about 300 yards down the road. Cingular would not upgrade phone, which I now suspect even more of being the problem after reading others' statements. Cell phone not much use as is today.

Had Cingular for years, never a problem. Get Sprint and can barely talk to anyone while I'm in my own home. Sprint needs to step it up. Dropped calls, bad reception, no bars where you'd expect full bars. In such a major city and the suburbs you'd expect more from such a company. If it worked every where like my Cingular did I'd love Sprint. Right now I only hope I can get all the calls and have reception and not lose my call.

I've had Motorola, Nokia, and Audiovox phones; they've been essentially unusable at and around home; I've discussed the poor service problem with Cingular, and one time they offered to send new phones (different model). That switch made no difference at all. My experience with Cingular in Worthington, esp. east of High st., has been very dissatisfying, with coverage varying from poor to none. I guess Cingular must feel really secure behind their 2-year contracts and early termination penalties. (Shame on them!) It really irks me when they run ther adverts. re: "Raising the bar... "

I can barely talk on the phone inside the house. In the neighborhood is not so bad (on the street), but overall Verizon seems to be unreliable inside. Switching phones did help (I had LG before, which was worse), but it's still not great.

I think Verizon is probably best in my neighborhood. I get about 3 bars inside the house most of the time, and only drop calls occaisionally. One thing that definitely improved my reception seemed to be using the Bluetooth headset. I'm not sure if it's real or perceived, but I believe I drop fewer than half the calls I dropped with my old LG VX6000.

Sprint PCS in Columbus is hit and miss. I get either great signal or very poor signal. I spend a lot of time in the Northland area between Morse Rd. and Rt 161 on Karl Rd. and Sprint is poor in the area. 1 bar in the area of the Karl Rd. Library and a little south to Woodward Park.

Excellent reception all over campus, partly because Verizon has some panels on top of Apollo's Greek Kitchen on 13th and High that cover all of south / central campus. Five bars almost everywhere... haven't seen no service yet!

I've used Cinular service for over 6 years and was very pleased with the service- until I switched to GSM about a year ago. Now I can't get more than 1 bar within a 1.5 mi. radius of my home. It's not that it drops calls- there is not enough signal to even initiate a call. When I signed up with Cingular, my plan was to go wireless and save money, but I can't use my cell phone when I am at home (which is most of the time). The bottom line is, I am paying $39.99 a month for cell service, $45.00 for a land-line, and an additional $25.00 in long distance calls. That means I am paying $109.99 per month for service that should only cost $39.99. I have addressed the weak signal issue with Cingular several times by phone and email. No luck. They want $150.00 to terminate my contract.

Reception is phenomenal when compared to other carriers. Cingular's use of the 850 mhz radio frequency really separates them from their competitors as it not only has better in-building penetration but consistently produces full bars. Former AT&T customers and existing T-Mobile customers take note because while both company's utilized the same technology currently employed by cingular, they did not utilize this frequency.

Don't see too many comments on Verizon but I've used them for over a year with excellent results here in central Ohio and when I travel to Arizona and Florida. I haven't had any problems at all.

Always great reception, little to worry about in regard to dropped calls. I drive all over town, Whitehall, Bexley, Lincoln Village, Galloway, Downtown Columbus, and rarely experience any issues. As others have said, even in buildings including malls and basements, no problems getting calls in or out. Thank God for GSM!

Within my apartment and also outside, I am lucky to get a 1 bar reception within a 1 / 4 to 1 / 2 mile radius of where I live (Tamarack circle is located between Cleveland and Karl 1 mile south of 161). 50% of the time I cannot get reception for both incoming and outgoing calls. 80% of my calls from here are dropped within 5 minutes of connecting. I highly DISCOURAGE getting T-Mobile as a carrier! I've written and spoken with them and they are unfriendly and rude and unwilling to work or please their customers. I give the company an overall rating of F!

I have had my MPx220 for about 6 months now, and in the Dublin area, reception has never been a problem, not even in basements. The only time I ever have a problem is when I'm in my church's rec center, which has very very thick concrete walls--I still get about 1 bar on that. It's most likely my phone that attributes to the good reception--when I start to get out of the area, near roberts road area, the signal just dies. But good coverage all the way up 71 to Cleveland!
