Calls can be made and received fine, thought when in buildings often spotty, especially masonry. Also I lose calls when sitting on my couch.

Been with Alltel for just about 2 years. Have had the same MOTORAZR the entire time. Very happy with reception. Perfect, no but good. I use it mostly in Geneva, Madison, Ashtabula, Kirtland and Mentor with little trouble. As much as I'd love to get an iPhone, I just can't see me leaving Alltel when I know how good the service has been for me and various friends and family.

I used to have good reception when I first purchased the phone. After a while, it got bad. When I called, I was told to take it to a store. The store told me it was a free phone and since I didn't purchase the insurance on it, they couldn't do anything. When I called the company again, they told me I needed a version upgrade. I never had this problem with any other cell company prior to moving here. I would have kept Verizon but they even told me up front that their coverage in the area was sparse. I haven't gotten my love from Alltel. I will try Cingular next.

Sprint phones have little to no service in this area. The service seems to have gotten worse in the past year.

Signal in this area is very poor. We had Verizon and All Tel both previously and they all sucked in this area.

Depending where you are in the house. 1 bar or no signal. Outside depends on front or back yard if you get a bar.

I had Nextel for a short while but it seemed to be vastly better than AT&T. I could get reception in a much larger rural area and digital features worked everywhere I had usable signal, whereas AT&T had the "digital" areas and the "analog" areas. I had alot of trouble accessing voicemail in analog areas, as well as accessing any tone based voicemail system. For Nextel I had the i60C phone with an extendable external antenna and it seemed to help reception noticably.

AT&T only has good reception (usually) in metropolitan areas; it is poor in rural areas. I had the Nokia 8260 with internal antenna and I am not impressed with its reception ability. But, AT&T is not that great in rural areas around NE Ohio either.
