Oberlin Avenue / West Erie / Leavitt Road / West 21st St., Lorain, OH 44052 |
Fri Feb 09, 2007 |
This whole area, especially along Lake Erie near Lakeview Beach and the homes in the Lakeview Park area, has long been a dead spot for Verizon, with customers in these homes and at the beach experiencing "searching for service" on their phones, even out in the yard. To their credit, Verizon recently added a Tower at the Oberlin Avenue / West Erie intersection at the Ohio Edison plant and coverage is now AMAZING in the area. Like Magic. Even indoors and in basements in the homes from Leavitt Rd.to Oberlin Ave. and from the railroad tracks to the lake. It has made a huge difference along West Erie / East Erie / Lake Rd.along the lake all the way to Sheffield Lake in the east to the old Ford plant in the west. Nice job, Verizon. Now lets see more towers in the other areas mentioned in my reviews.

Rt. 58 / Leavitt Rd. / Ohio Turnpike, Lorain, OH 44052 |
Fri Feb 09, 2007 |
Coverage in the area along RT. 58 / Leavitt Rd.from RT 113 all the way north on 58 to Park Ave. in Amherst is 0-1 bar with very poor reception and many dropped calls. A tower in the industrial area along RT. 58 near the overpass of the railroad tracks near Sliman Dodge would be a great solution, Verizon.

Liberty Avenue / Vermilion, Ohio / Rt. 60, Lorain, OH 44052 |

Coverage in the area along Liberty Ave. and inside the businesses on this road is abominable. 0 bars is the norm with little to no reception with crackling and breaking calls if you can even get a call out or in.

West Erie Avenue / Community Health Partners / Kolbe Rd., Lorain, OH 44052 |
Fri Feb 09, 2007 |
Coverage for Verizon is very poor in the area around Lorain Community Health Partners and Kolbe Road. with 0-1 bars and dropped calls being the norm. Poor coverage extends south into Amherst and west into Vermilion. A tower is needed.

Oberlin Avenue / Rebman's Bowling Alley / Tower Blvd., Lorain, OH 44052 |
Fri Feb 09, 2007 |
Coverage in the area of Oberlin Ave. around Rebman's bowling alley and neighborhoods between Oberlin Ave. to Leavitt Rd.for the east and west and Tower Blvd. to Cooper Foster for the north and south is very poor, especially inside homes and buildings in the area. This square area is in serious need of a cell tower, Verizon. How about the old Lorain Catholic site for one? Other than this area, Verizon is excellent in the Lorain area and doesn't have a major weak spot until you hit the Oberlin Road / Stang Rd.area in Amherst Township, just south of Hidden Valley neighborhood.

I usually get 2 bars downstairs in my house then anywhere from 3 to 4 upstairs. When I go down the street it sucks. When I go anywhere but lorain it works with full bars. I even goto southern ohio and maryland in the mountains and it works better than up here

Most areas of my home offer poor reception. I often find myself in the middle of the winter standing outside to make or receive a call. Have missed many important calls as a result and dropped landline when I went wireless. Don't know if it's the phone or the provider - was told nearest tower is on 57 and 28th - just a few blocks away.
