We live below a hill to our West and both towers are West of us. One is N.W. about 6 miles and the second is S.W. of us about 7 or 8 miles. We live along a creek bottom and at best can get 1 bar of signal at the house when outside. If we walk to the road which is about 850 ft. to the West and about 35 ft. higher in elevation, we can get 3 bars of signal. We can also drive 2 miles East to Hwy. 18 and get 5 bars of signal. But who wants to drive 2 miles to sit in the car and talk on the phone? We have talked to Cingular several times and they are NO help. They want us to buy better phones and extend our contract another two years.... NOT going to happen. I must say that with the Nokia, I can plug in an external antenna into the phone and sit on the back porch of the house and have 4 bars. But the antenna is half way up the roof on a metal roof ( about the same highth as the road.)
