Great Service from Alltel. The clarity of calls is unbelievable. I used to have GSM service with that other carrier and it was never as clear as Alltel. With Alltel it sounds like you are talking on a landline. I hardly ever drop any calls and never have trouble getting bars for service.

After being very happy with AT&T since 1996, I find the over all service of Alltel to be sadly lacking. I travel to Tulsa and go on roam before i'm even there. Additionally, the mobil web is extremely spotty.

Is there a place where you can find where Alltel towers are located? I love the way T-Mobile has the street level map on their page.

Service was very poor after the merge with ATT wireless and Alltel and I was going to pay the 175 early disconnect fee until I switched to ALLTEL's CDMA network. Ever since the change over service has been great, I am always in remote areas of Oklahoma and there are very few dead spots. I want everyone that has an ATT phone to go into your nearest Alltel store and swicth your phone and get over this headache. GO RYAN NEWMAN!

I had good service with AT&T. Since this big "switch" to Cingular then to Alltel I have had nothing but trouble. I get dropped calls, even though I have good bars on my phone my friends and family can not hear me or I sound garbled. Customer service sucks with Alltel and I have only gotten 4 mailings from them. 3 bills and a "Welcome" letter I got 3 months after I found out I had been sold. I was trying to pay a bill by calling 611 and could not get through, so I went into a Alltel location to pay the bill... they could not find me in the system. Turns out I still have to sign up with Alltel before December 31, 2005 or my phone stops working and I get charged $175.00 early termination fee (Like it was my choice to leave AT&T). Anyway back to my bill, how did I pay it... I had to call an 800 number which got me to Cingular, from there I had to send in my check made out to AT&T to Cingular to pay my Alltel bill. Is this messed up or what? At different times when I have called into Alltel, the customer service reps have been very rude. I even had one snotty little twit snidly tell me "and whose fault is that, who had been using your phone". I hate Alltel and am planning to sign up with Alltel, then drop them (since I saw on TV that they will not charge the $175.00 to any AT&T customer that wants to leave) and get a new cell company. Alltel sucks! My advise to anyone looking for a cell phone company... Look else where!

I travel frequently inside Oklahoma and Alltel sucks. It is nowhere nearly as good as the old AT&T TDMA service back in the day. I get dropped calls or calls so static filled you can't hear the person you're speaking with. Before you say it's the phone, I have tried the Motorola V710, terrible, the Nokia CDMA candy bar style phone they no longer offer, it was an improvement at the expense of battery life over the V710. The Nokia 6255i sucks as well. Get some new phones Alltel. I do use NMO mount external antennas and 3 watt repeaters and direct connect cellular amplifiers in my vehicles as well, but nothing will help this service. I don't know where to look, I've tried t-mobile, Sprint, US Cellular, Cingular, and now Alltel, none of them are very reliable outside major metropolitan areas, and some of them aren't inside metro areas. Bring back the old AT&T!

Alltel is a breath of fresh air to the Oklahoma City market. After the confusion fueled by the ATTWS / Cingular merger, it is about time for a solid company to come in and offer relief to a wireless customer base that has so long been ignored. I highly recommend Alltel wireless. you may have not heard of them, but they've been around a long time. Check there website and tell your boss, it's time to switch.

We have traveled this weekend trying to enforce our 15 trial period for the change-over to Alltel. The coverage was terrible. Lost calls, no signal, no picture or movie camera option worked unless there was a 4-bar signal present. Once there was, it was lost again. We stopped in Sayre to avoid a rainstorm, but the signal failed as I moved around in the truckstop to get a better signal. After leaving OKC, 45 miles into the trip along I-40, one of the most traveled highways in the U.S., we lost signal and calls all the way to Amarillo. We stopped again 29 miles from El Reno on the way back. Again, the signal changed inside the store from place to place. It was terrible. I would not recommend Alltel. The loss of GSM service is a disaster. Alltel brags about investing 59 million in upgrading the systems. That, in the tellecomm. world, is not that much of an investment. I think that most will find that after switching to Alltel, another company would be the best bet.

When AT&T in Oklahoma City was purchased by Alltel, my cell phone service went to crap. However, after I signed-up with Alltel and switched to the CDMA phone my service has been superb. I have found crystal clear communication with the Alltel service, even in remote areas of Oklahoma where I had trouble with AT&T in the past.

I have no problem with the reception. My issue is being told I would be charged one price and then getting the bill and being charged a higher price. Now to cancel my service it is going to cost $350 (2 phones). I have been trying to speak to a supervisor with Alltel for 3 1 / 2 weeks now and no one can tell me who the manager is much less talk to that person. I am promised everytime that a supervisor will call me back the next day and I am yet to receive a call. I was an AT&T customer for 8 years before being sold to Alltel. I will inform every person I know NOT to get service with Alltel as well as right a letter to the Better Business Bureau regarding their selling practices and customer service issues.

I've had more dropped calls in the last weeks than 15 or 20 years ago with a brick or the reception is so bad you cannot carry on a conversation. ATT / Cingular / Alltel FCC directed merger is a milestone of bad news for consumer. As a business owner, this is a catastrophe. I need an alternate company without early contract cancel penalty and am filing a complaint with the AGs office.

When I was with AT&T, at my house, I sometimes had 0-2 bars with frequent dropped calls. Other times I had to leave my house and drive 1 block before I could make or receive a call. GPS was hit and miss. With the iPhone, I was forced to buy a data plan but I couldn't get a 3G connection at home and it was iffy everywhere else. Fortunately I had a good wireless router, or I wouldn't have had any data connection, so I was paying for a 3G connection I couldn't use at home.

Many, many dropped calls ( close to 20%), several missing / late text msgs. Many black holes in the metro area with 1- 0 bars, takes quite awhile for a call to go through

We've been with AT&T for years, and never had a reception problem until we were indirectly forced to upgrade to smart phones. We have a serious signal problem with 3G and usually cannot receive MMS. Often there are no bars at all on our Captivates. A daughter comes over with an iPhone and gets a little better reception, but not much. (3 bars) We've been through the normal ringer with AT&T CS and have not yet heard back from their troubleshooting. Last year they told us a area cell tower was down, but when we called back a week later because noone had called us back, were told there was no tower down. When I used the phone I loved, my RazrII V9X I never had a service problem, but I gave up the phone and may now eventually have to give up AT&T Wireless unless coverage improves. They want to get us off of 3G? When everyone else is moving to 4G? Does not sound like progress.
