Cross Telephone just added a tower North of Quinton (about 1 / 4 mile), Cingular opted not to allow their customers access this tower. I found all of this information out by talking to Cross Technical people.

Started out with Cingular about 2 yrs ago and had literally no reception. Told it was a phone problem and after 3 different phones they finally decided that it was a lost cause and so they ended our service. Switched to U.S. Cellular and haven't looked back. Service just got better since a new tower was placed just outside of town, about 1 mile, and am now looking at my phone and it has full service even in a double wide mobile home. In our church just on the edge of town we loose 1-2 bars but still have excellent reception, no dropped calls and no warbling either. In between McAlester and Quinton there is 1 place about 1 / 4 of a mile that service go to pot. Its a low spot in between mountains with a creek running through it. Other than that we have great service in our area. I currently have the regional plan and I've travelled all over Oklahoma and Arkansas, Missouri, Texas, and haven't had maybe a handful of dropped calls. U.S. Cellular IMHO is the best carrier for us.
