Alltel
I am soon moving to the area from Ohio. I have spent a lot of time in Tulsa,Ok. with my Alltel plan, that even with 10 free #"s on the "my circle" plan, I still go close to the edge of my 900 minute plan (so I'm saying I use my phone a lot), I've driven throughout the downtown area, down to Broken Arrow, Okmulgee, up to Owasso, Sand Springs and up through Claremore (not to mention the drive from Ohio). I am so pleased with my Alltel service that I'm trying to find a prefix available that will allow people in Tulsa to call me without it being long distance, I don't want to switch. One other point that people a lot of times fail to understand: Your signal can be directly affected by the model of phone you're using (no matter what carrier you have)! So do your homework!

AT&T
Never a complaint here. I always have at 3 bars of reception and 3G is blazing fast here. I never have to worry about reception or dropped calls.

Since switching to AT&T from Sprint, I get dropped calls all the time. Sometimes, a voice mail will magically appear without my phone ever telling me someone called. Their customer service is better than Sprint, but the actual phone service is horrible. The only good thing is I hardly ever get 0 bars, even works in elevators.

Reception at this intersection is awful. I actually have no reception inside the Tulsa Spine and Specialty Hospital.

Cingular has been bad for many years in this area. ATT was better but not much. Dropped calls and missed calls. Sometimes I feel like I am in the Cingular commercials - but they are telling me I won't have this problem with Cingular>>>

AT&T
Dropped calls have increased since merger. No reception on Hwy. 75 between I-44 and the Creek turnpike. No reception on Yale between 85th and 91st. For every call I make or take while I'm driving, about 1 / 2 of them end up dropping. I'm not kidding. I had fewer dropped calls ten years ago with AT&T than I have now. You would think that in ten years that competition alone would make service improve. Hasn't happened with Cingular. Every time I make a call I have to preface the conversation with: "I might lose you because I'm on my cell phone." Cingular blows.

when AT&T "bought out" Cingular they sold out all the towers I know so many people who where with AT&T that where so happy switched and now there under contract and customer service either says I cant help you and your stuck or sorry we get calls about this all the time and they wont tell us whats wrong. Most every one I kno that had AT&T blame Cingular but the truth is AT&T owns like 70% stock in Cingular so for what ever reason except to make billions by tricking all there customers into switching I dunno but they have "the most dropped calls" "not the fewest"

I work for Sprint at the City Plex Towers and have access to the mapping tools that show coverage for any area. I know for a fact that Tulsa's Sprint coverage is horrible. In addition, Sprint is the only carrier to outsource its Customer Support to the Phillipines and India. I would not use Sprint if someone payed me. I have Cingular. To put the difference in signal reception in perspctive, I work in the 20 story tower, 14th floor, and have full signal in each of the 3 towers. The Sprint LG 325 on the other hand, does not pick up 1 bar. So, between the GSM phone and the CDMA phone, you have a difference of full signal strength and no signal strength. And to the people posting about AT&T using Cingular towers, AT&T used TDMA, not GSM. The towers are not the same. That's why Cingular required you to swap to Cingular. Thy're getting rid of TDMA. Also, my manger has Tmobile, and his T-Mobile signal indoors, 12-15 stories up, has about 3 bars normally. The other day, he lost his T-Mobile signal completely and picked up my Cingular signal! This goes to show that even between carriers using the same network type, there are differences, and it depends on that carrier's network whether or not you get good reception.

I cannot complain one bit. I'm a bit of a cell phone freak and no matter which phone I'm using, the coverage is always 5 bars.

Amazing Service in general. Please remember, cell phones were never designed to be a replacement for land lines, however Cingular really comes close...

Down hill, west of 71st and Yale. Very poor reception - bars drop when call is taken. AT&T (TDMA) was good at this location, as is T-Mobile (GSM).

I live between Mingo and Memorial, When I had AT&T I had always good reception, Now I have Cingular GSM and in my home I get 1 to if Im lucky 3 bars, my reception breaks up and have a hard time hearing people and they have a hard time hearing me. I contacted Cingular and they said I was right in between towers. I told them to switch me to AT&T Towers.. They first said they could do that but then said for some reason they cant. Cingular is poor, even trying to contact their stores is almost impossible. This has been an ongoing thing for 6 months, (my contract so far) I keep seeing the comercials stating better reception, more bars ect. I say False Advertisement and am looking into filing complaint with FCC

I recently had ATT with TDMA service using a Nokia 8260 and upgraded to a Cingular GSM plan using the Motorola V551. In my apt which is on the 1st floor, I dont get very good reception, 2-3 bars usually... although sometimes 1 or 4.

Very happy with cingular and this phone. However, my dad has the Samsung SGH-X427m on the same plan as me and his reception isnt nearly as good. I have not had any other phones besides Nokia 5165 and 6340i.

GSM network seems to be very spotty in South Tulsa. Same problems with AT&T (probably same towers).

Cellular One
I live in a second floor apartment and can not use my cellular phone unless I go stand in the parking lot, away from any buildings. Even on Riverpark trail I get a lot of static. I went to the dealer to ask about options for improving my reception, and they blew me off. I can't wait to change carriers.

Cricket
Occasionally I get 1 bar. Mostly I never get one at all. Just got this phone too. Wish I had did some research before getting this. Cricket or the phone just isn't any good here.

Cricket
Cricket is cheap and you get what you pay for I guess. Not bad for $35.00 a month with no contracts. If you ask me. carriers that force contracts on people are the ones with crappy customer service, bad coverage, etc. At least with Cricket, if you don't like it then your just stuck with the phone you bought from them.

Nextel
We have had Nextel for over 10 years and I am fully disgusted with the increase in dropped calls in the Tulsa area. I can barely get through a conversation anymore. My son told me that my calls to him drop more often than anyone he talks to. We have kept Nextel for the walkie-talkie feature... but it is not worth it. I'm done. I'm buying out.

Nextel
Dropped calls all the time. Also, my uncle from Mass. came down for a visit and also complained that Nextel has poor reception in a lot of buildings. I have the same problem here. Works fine outside, but indoors, it sucks.

Nextel
Stinks from 15 and Peoria to 51 and Peoria, Works outside but not inside buildings. Was told in Jan 04, June 04, July 04, and December 04, they're going to put a tower in brookside, I'll know when I can call my wife while in albertsons or walmart market on peoria and ask a question while shopping and I actually don't get cut off. It still stinks in brookside and utica square, and St. Johns Entire complex as of 04.16.2005.

Nextel
The only places I seem to have problems with Nextel in the Tulsa area is at: Utica Square, The Philbrook Museum and on Peoria from 31st to 51st street. Also, going into some buildings messes things up. Also, Creek Turnpike around Memorial is kinda bad. Too many trees.

Sprint
First of all I have to say sprints customer service is *$#%$#@ horrible. everyone ivr talked to has said sumthing different one time I was told its my phone then it was that their decommisining their Nextel towers then it was a digital conversion from any analog towers to digital now its a 4g digital tower conversion wtf. Do after that and a growing cell bill I'm done. They offerd me a signal booster called an airwave thay plugs into my modem they said ill get full 3g within a 5000ft radius hopfully it wrks.I have no service currently.3mounts left on my 3 smart phone family contract and were switching.

Sprint
Sprint has had major issues with 3G speeds in the past but service has vastly improved, I now get 1000kbps+ speeds almost everywhere in Tulsa. In terms of coverage, Sprint is probably number 3 with AT&T and US Cellular ahead of them. However, Sprint roams onto US Cellular for free anyway so I get great rural coverage which isn't to say I roam all the time. Sprint has coverage along the major highways which include small towns I frequent. The value is unbeatable. 5 smart phones with unlimited texts, cell to cell calls, and most importantly DATA for only $260 a month.

Sprint
SHyt reception. I switched from having cricket for around 12yrs and wished I hadnt. My 3g network at its best with Sprint is 122Kbps down stream and only.11Kbps upstream. slower than a dial-up connectin. Switching back to cricets service in the morning. Least with them Ill have a 3g network that actually works. BTW Sprint only has 2 towers in tulsa. Just call in and ask a rep
