One bar of reception is standard, usually no bars. 25% of time phone has no signal.

I bought the iPhone a few weeks based on the phone's operating system and apps. However, I am concerned about everything I hear about AT&T Data and Network Coverage. Here in the Beaverton and Portland area, the service has been OK with no dropped calls or problems with data / network. However, last week I was San Francisco and I basically carried around a pretty paper weight. I am wondering if I should have stayed with Verizon and got a Droid or the Storm 2.

Daily Commute / Beaverton To Pdx, Beaverton, OR 97007 Sun Dec 10, 2006

Home - Murray and Allen Work - SE Portland Route - via 26, or via Garden Home Daily drops call 2-4 times in route. A couple are predictable (tower related?) but the others are not. Cingular says "they are working on it"... and have said that for almost 2 years now. I predict it will magically get resolved in 2 / 07 when my contract is up. I would also like to have CSRs who a) know what they are talking about b) are honest with me In fairness it does work in some places others have reported trouble - Haggens, Washington Square. The only shopping areas I know I can never get service are two Albertsons stores (the one on Barnes and the one on Beaverton-Hillsdale West Slope??) Side Note - phone is garbage, avoid at all costs

Since I had to switch from AT&T to Cingular, all my calls drop while inside my house. I have had Cingular send me new phone after new phone and I still have 100% of my calls drop. Cingular not helpful at all in rectifying this problem. Spent hours on the phone with them and recorded all conversations. Reps seem to have no training and just "wing it". Will try other company when my contract is up.

We are a family of 4 phones, all different (Samsung, LG, Motorolla, and Nokia) and frankly, Cingular just blows. I find anywhere I go around the cooper mountain area means 1-3 bars, and dropped calls all the time. I'm looking at switching to Verizon or T-Mobile in hopes that it will help.

I just switched from Nextel to Cingular because I really like the Treo 650. Unfortunately, the reception is horrible. I never dropped calls with Nextel but I do so every day with Cingular. Apparently PDX is supposed to get 100 new towers over the next 2 years but I don't know if I can wait that long. AHHH!

Every now and then I get a dropped call. Almost every call has its cut in / outs. Quite annoying at times.

Changed from AT&T to Cingular after the merge and we started dropping calls left and right. Called Cingular and they said Oregon is a 'new' state and GSM hasn't caught up yet. It was recommened we switch back to digital plan or try different phone.

Constantly dropped call. Totally exasperated. Tried it 3 years back, had to return to my TDMA service. Tried again last year because they claim to have put in more towers but same result. Now wondering if I should try again this year because the sales guy now claim that the Cingular merger gave them more bandwidth and coverage. I am a bit sceptical since Cingular was not available her prior to the merger. Wonder what kind of additional coverage are they talking about.
