I have to give Verizon Wireless credit for their technological achievement: In two years I cannot remember even a single dropped call. This is literally the only positive aspect I can think of. The expensive service plans are a joke. After all the taxes and such I can't get below a $50 cellphone bill each month and I hardly use my phone. The constant emails and texts pushing a new contract / phone upgrade are obnoxious. I also had inexcusable issues with their psychotic collection partner Varolii. I screwed up and was about a week late on a bill. It was just an honest mistake - I had the money and payed when I realized what happened. Rather than simply having a living person from Verizon call me on my phone (which they provide the service for) these freaks start some massive phone message campaign leaving voicemail messages with everyone I know with bizarre phone messages that I had been disregarding as some sort of scam to get personal information for the purposes of identity theft. They even called my niece who lives several states away and I don't even talk too often. Who knows HOW they got these numbers. It was really creepy. I couldn't trust their messages because googling the caller ID number yielded extremely suspicious results. And when I contacted Verizon to investigate the matter they played dumb with me through many phone calls and emails before FINALLY admitting that this was a being done on their behalf. The important thing to understand is that these whacked out phone messages continued for WEEKS after I payed my bill. It took a full-blown investigation on my part consisting of several phone calls to their security department and a dozen emails to pry out this name of Verizon's partner "Varolii" so I could call Varolii directly and threaten legal action before they finally stopped (since Verizon was incompetant and unwilling / unable to make their friends at Varolii stop). The whole episode was simply too much for me. I just want a basic phone, not a nightmare. Bye Bye Verizon, I hope it was worth it. Many of the people I saw from googling this number were getting the psycho message campaign said they were NEVER behind on a payment. So when they send a witch hunt after you don't say I didn't warn you.

GSM reception seems to be much better than the Siemens S46, although signal strength does drop at times, I have never had a dropped call. The Nokia phones seem to do a better job than the Siemens models in fringe areas, so keep that in mind when selecting a GSM phone.

Just switched from Verizon where it was fine at my home, but terrible on the way to work on 72nd in Tigard. So far Sprint has given me no problems as I commute from all over Beaverton, Vancouver, and TIgard. So much better and cheaper than Verizon.

Switched from Verizon about 10 years ago because of poor reception in Gresham. Since then, only 1 major dead spot -- on the PCC - Rock Creek campus. OCCASIONALLY, I can get a bar or two there outside, but for the most part, it's dead. However, I'm staying with T-Mobile because of the consistent excellent customer service, and the recent addition of HSPA+.

Currently using Straight Talk prepaid. (Surprisingly good) on the Verizon prepaid network. Recent Prepaid history: T - Mobile (GSM) with Tracfone. Somewhat usable 6 / 10 At&t (GSM) on Straight Talk. Dropped calls, weak signal, unusable. 3 / 10 Latest: Verizon (CDMA) much improved signal over local area. No dropped calls so far. The better reception by far out of the big three. 8 / 10

I have had Verizon service since 1997. Back then it was GTE and I lived in Ohio. I have only once lived somewhere that my reception was poor. I travel all over the portland Metro area, as well as to the coast, the Gorge, Mt Hood, etc. and my service rarely, if ever drops. In fact the last time I dropped out of service was in Cannon Beach when I was deep inside a gift shop, but only for 10 minutes while in that specific gift shop. I have had a variety of phones before I recently got my andrious as well. From your basic LG model to the very first Envy to a Blackberry so I have to say that Verizon has more than served me well.

Most of the time ill usually 3-4 bars, but now, I am finding that I am getting 5 bars quite often. I am very happy with the phone quality, the phone itself, and the quality of service. Very Friendly. Stay away from AT&T / Cingular. They treated us like dirt.
