Just switched from US cellular to Verizon. So far, one week and 6 dropped calls. US may have crappy phones but they do have the best coverage in the area. Before Verizon came here, they used US Cellular's towers and the coverage was great. Now I'm pretty dissapointed

What has happened to Nextel? My service is so poor these days? I heard the Walkie talkie portion on Sprint / Nextel is going away. Is there any validity to this?

Seems like more often than not, when I am out mt. biking or on the water, my friends have coverage and I do not. Also T-Mobile customer service has become worse and worse over the years. I had a bill dispute with them and they just ignored my comments and said I needed to pay or get sent to a collections agency.

Most cell carriers are terrible in Central Oregon. T-moble has been just ok. Can't pick up inside buildings. Can't get coverage over the pass when driving. But their family plans are better than Unicel. Wish we could get Cingular, we think its the best. We need them to come to this area and we need more cell towers.

Inside the house, reception is very rarely adequate or useable. Stand outside in the cold and one may receive a couple of bars and able to make or receive a call; however, even that frequently does not work well nor is it dependable. No carrier seems to work well on the west side of Awbrey Butte. Therefore, switching carriers is of no or little help. To work in this area of Bend, a carrier needs a tower west of Awbrey Butte. Other locations in town and the Sprint reception seems to work fine.

I have had T-Mobile for years with various phones. I have never had acceptable service where my parents live when I visit; I can only sometimes get a signal if I'm outside, pressed against a window, or within the 3x3 space under the kitchen skylight--no way to have a decent conversation or send a text. My sister has Verizon and is chatting / texting freely while walking around the house.

Only one to two bars here. Some functions not working correctly, phone freezes up and won't do anything, so have to turn it off. Or takes numerous trys to get into email. Can't always send email messages. They have disappeared into outer space. Wasn't saved to my drafts folder either, so I lost it all. Very frustrating for a brand new phone and service from US Cellular. Did I buy a flunkie phone, or is it just this area?

I left a comment about AT&T (dated Feb. 4, 2010) reception being very poor in my location--since that time AT&T has updated their "service coverage map" which now states "moderate" for my area and reading their explanation for moderate they say "to go out to the road" to get service---are you kidding me! Before their service coverage map said I had "good" reception--well, that was wrong if you consider 0 to 1 bar as being "good" and having to stand next to a window to even get that 1 bar! There is some good news---I've switched to Verizon and I now get 4 bars any where in my house or on my property and I'm loving it!---sure beats paying for over a year for a service I never really got. Oh, when I talked with AT&T rep. their solution to the problem was: first I had to agree to signing another 2 year contract and they would send me a new phone---I asked what if the new phone didn't work at my house then what---their answer "we're putting up new towers in your area but won't be done until 2012"---AT&T reps have been using that "ploy" on me since 2009---well, my patience has run out and I went with a cell phone carrier who can / does deliver--Verizon!
