Reception out here at Lane is excellent! My Internet is blazing fast and I actually get service (unlike Verizon and T-Mobile). It seems that no matter where I am on campus, I usually have no less than 3 bars of service. I am a happy customer. :)

Reception out here on campus at Lane Community College is terrible with my OG Droid. I have 1 bar or less of 1X coverage MOST of the time. However, on my ATT iPad, I get anywhere from 3 to 5 bars about 95% of the time. Verizon may have the best service on the East Coast, but here in Oregon, it does not even compare. :(

AT&T is really terrible out in Santa Clara in Eugene, OR. Can't even receive any signal whatsoever. Went to the AT&T store and they basically said "tough luck" we can sell you a microcell for $200 bucks that will use your own home internet in order to make calls for a service you already pay for. What the hell?!

I don't have any problems in Eugene. I do have quite a bit of service interruption in the Sacred Heart Riverbend hospital in Springfield (where I happen to work) but I really don't have much to complain about. My friends with T-Mobile are frequently without service. I am looking to upgrade my phone though, and possibly switch to AT&T... I guess I'll just have to see what happens.

Sanyo Katana II
Crow Rd. / Oak Hill, Eugene, OR 97402 Sun Dec 26, 2010

I've been using Sprint on a Sanyo phone for about 6 years in Eureka, CA, Santa Rosa, CA and now 2+ years in Eugene,OR. Sprint on a Sanyo has been pretty rock solid for me. I only lose reception if I am traveling through remote locations. It may seem odd, but I use a cell phone for mostly for "talking" and some infrequent texting; thus the Sprint / Sanyo combo works extremely well for my application. I am going to upgrade my phone very soon and I think I will stick with a Sanyo since it has never failed me on Sprint's network even after I accidently fully laundered my phone twice in the washer! It's really clean now! BTW, Sprint's 4G coverage does not quite make it to my house by about 1 / 4 mile according to Sprints 4G coverge map. Although, I doubt I really would need that level of coverage unless I decided to drop my Qwest DSL IP line at home and upgrade to a Sprint home network. Would be nice to have that option though...

Basically, reception is unreliable. Downstairs, calls are nearly impossible. Upstairs they are not too bad. We used to have to walk to the top of the street to a live area to make calls, but now we can step out the front door and go out to the sidewalk to get reception. So things seem to have improved. However, I do not use my cell to receive important calls. It's just not reliable. Voice mail sometimes shows up days after the calls are made. I have no idea what causes that. The main problem seems to be simply the poor coverage in south Eugene. When I travel, I have no problems in airports or hotels. Reception also seems pretty good in central / downtown / university areas of Eugene, too. Voice mail is still unreliable, though. Too bad there are not enough of us here to get some attention from ATT.

In the CENTER Bldg basement AT&T signal wavers between 4&5 bars using a cSL prepaid sim card from Hong Kong, where as standing on the Fourth floor balcony of the same building there is no VZW signal to be found.

I use an iPhone 2G on T-Mobile and have moved to Eugene for the academic year to attend University of Oregon. I am disappointed with both area of coverage and quality of calls on T-Mobile. My friends with AT&T and Verizon will have full bars in locations where I have poor or no service. If I do have service, I generally tend to keep it while a call is in progress. However, the "searching for service" time when I do not have service can become frustrating, as I lose service quite often if indoors not making a call. I am frequently covered by Wi-Fi hotspots on campus, but the quality of service when I must use the T-Mobile EDGE network also disappoints me.

No reception in the house. Some reception in the driveway but calls are dropped. Calls are dropped while traveling on Willamette near the cemetary (40th and Willamette) Sometimes can receive or send texts if standing in the back yard. ATT has promised to put up a new tower near here but nothing yet.

Never had problems with Sprint before moving to this house off of north River Road. Neighbors with Sprint want out too, but Sprint charges 200 bucks per phone to cancel contract. We have three phones under contract. Sprint is going to mail a 'gizmo' that will improve our reception. Great, I have to install a gizmo that will try and pick up on zero to one bars and amplify it. In the meantime, we can't call out of get calls here. I had to get a land line, which I don't really want. QWest provided great customer service on the land line and DSL. Shocked me as QWest really sucked the last time around. Anyway, QWest just started affilitation with Verizon, so I will check them out.

Tried to call from new home on three different models of Sanyo phones. Had to go out to street to talk. Zero to one bar in the house, depending on which room. Some friends with Verizon service came over and got two to three bars. Can't believe such poor reception in this area between North Eugene and Junction City.

Like I always tell people... ATT / Cingular is the most dropped calls network. 7 out of 10 calls anywhere in this area drop, get disconnected or I get the infamous dead air call. The coverage is good, but we oddly have this problem on all 5 of our phones and my friends even with a full signal.
