AT&T Wireless (now Cingular) has improved its GSM coverage in Medford over the past few months (from horrible to fair). Rural areas - even those that have substantial populations are still not covered. Only TDMA works in outlying areas... although even that is weak and spotty.

I've had AT&T GSM for about 4 months now and I can't stand it. Even when I manage to get a signal and the network isn't busy. Voice seems to cut in and out. It's a lot like when you're streaming music on the net and it gets choppy when bandwidth is low. Sometimes even when I'm just getting the phone ringing sound, I can hear it starting to cut out. Only 8 more months til my contract is up, I can't wait.

Sprint has covered Medford. As well as Talent, Phoenix, Ashland and Central Point. Provided you have an up to date phone that GETS good reception, you will almost never have a reception problem in these areas. Now because we are in Oregon, places in the mountains like: Applegate, Ruch, Grants Pass (outskirts) are most likely roaming. Now White City you will get coverage, might not be great though, be warned. Shady Cove and Eagle Point, No... probobly not. All in all great coverage here, if your not a mountain man. Sprint rocks here, they even have a 300 person Call Center here in South Medford!

When I purchased this plan I did not need a phone other than an occasional outgoing call. Six months later I needed the phone for my job and I discovered how bad the service truly is and how much T-Mobile really doesn't care. I have my phone with me constantly and miss every call because it never rings and the service never connects them to my phone so I never am notified of a missed call. I got up this morning to 6 voicemail messages dating as far back as 3 days ago and not one missed call listed nor one ring of my phone! I bought another phone although this is a current Nokia with internet capabilities. No difference with another phone. I asked T-Mobile to let me out of my contract because I will have to duplicate service to have a phone - they said - "Thanks for telling us so we know where to put towers someday in the future." I am in a major city along I-5 in Southern Oregon - an area well within the coverage map - yet now they tell me it is a designated borderline area - never told me before I purchased the plan for a year. I am very unhappy and advise anyone to steer clear of this company.

ATT GSM network service is awful (please read it SUCKS!) in the Southern Oregon Rogue Valley. My sony e610 phone doesn't even work half the time due to poor reception. Besides that ATT charges me extra (usually $30/month) for incoming "call forwarding" calls even when I don't answer them, due to the phone automatically reverts to another network signal because ATT is so weak. ATT has been little or no help solving the problems...wish I could get out of my contract.

Reception in East Medford is average on a good day. Right in the middle of the largest town in Southern Oregon and it will drop a call.
