Almost no cell phone reception for any company here! This isn't the middle of the woods. The phone will usually ring and then as soon as I answer, the call fails.

Worked OK for last 11 months since I got the phone. Sometime between Dec 1st and 15th, dropped to 2 bars on the phone until you hit SEND, where you get none and phone tells you the call failed. After hitting END, phone display changes from "Cingular" to "No Service" or "Emergency Only". When I called, they sent me a replacement phone, which behaved exactly the same way -- it clearly isn't the phone, but the service. Maybe Verizon is right: its the network.

Cingular used to have great reception in downtown Portland, but starting on December 13, a cell tower has been out. Now I can not make any calls or received any. Most of my friends use Cingular and have the same problem (text messages still works sometimes). The customer service agent told me she had no timeline of when it will be corrected and wasn't even aware of the problem until I called. This is the worst service I have ever encountered. They should have at least notified their clients of the problem when it occured and should correct it in a timely fashion.

I've had my new T-Mobile service and antenna-less Samsung for a couple of weeks and found myself compelled to research why the reception is so annoyingly atrocious during 90-percent of my calls. My old, indestructible Nokia brick made the most of the poor AT&T / Cingular reception in my Bethany-area home. The reception bar sometimes fluctuated from 1 to 5 in the space of a 3-minute call but I could live with the sound quality. T-Mobile changed all that. T-Mobile reception reminds me of the sound quality I used to get using a two-way ham radio up in Alaska. The only thing I don't say after each sentence these days is, "over." I have become an auditory linguist, developing special skills to insert words I think are being said to me during a conversation. Ultimately, three good things have come from my new T-Mobile frustrations: they gave me the phone for free, I'm on a 1-year contract and this website illustrates that I'm not the only one getting WWII walkie-talkie reception from 21st century technology. Pathetic, inexcusable and expensive.

I have little to no reception anywhere in SE Portland. I must pay $200 to get out of my contract. I hear positive things about Verizon but I think I'll stick with land lines for the time being.

Calls are dropped every several minutes even though a constant 3 to 4 bars show, happens whether we are inside or outside the house. Very frustrating it is keeping us from using cell as primary phone for home use, locking us into landline service.

Had AT&T with a NOKIA phone til Cingular took it over. Now I have Cingular with an LG C2000 phone and the reception is the worst I have ever heard. I can barely take any calls, and when I do, everyone is frustrated speaking with me - it's all garbled and cuts in and out. SUCKS. The AT&T / Nokia combo wasn't great by any means, but it was better than this. I need to drop everything and start over. How can reception be this bad right in the city?! Ridiculous.
