North Portland SUCKS for any phone company, I was with VRZN for 9 years and when I moved to NoPo the lack of reception was intolerable so after 4 years of promises I moved to T-Mob which was only slightly better if that, maybe it was more tolerable cause it was cheaper. As to the guy that said Verizon was planning on putting more towers in, LOL from day one 5 years ago they would feed me the same lies and have still not done a freaking things to improve service over in N-Portland. My contract is up with T-Mob and I am desperately trying to find a company with some sort of integrity for service but after reading the posting here I am losing hope. ARG!

At home the old ATT Wireless didn't work at all. I've been with Verizon because I got at least 1-2 bars. With with the new ATT recently, and getting 4-5 bars at home! Have had great reception all over town. I found customer service to be greatly improved over my dealings with Cingular or the old ATT Wireless.

Sprint works GREAT in 97223, including Bull Mountain Meadows, I-5 and 99-W (inside concrete buildings). None of the other major carriers work well in office buildings at I-5 and 99-W.

4-5 bars on a regular basis with Verizon wireless. No complaints at Hwy26 and 185th exit. I go all over the board and never have dropped calls. I go to PCC Rock Creek (past 185th and Union), go to PCC Sylvania (Capitol Hwy / 49th), old town Beaverton (by post office) - you name it, I go there. Vancouver works fine, Washougal -- all get 3-4-5 bars. The only place I drop is in the forest going out to Tillamook. But, hey -- on the way to the town with more cows than people, what can be said?

Calls and voice mail messages do not come through due to T-Mobile's inadequate network even when my phone is hanging around my neck. T -Mobile says to shut down your phone several times a day to keep calls from getting hung up in their cell towers BUT the real problem is that their network simply can't handle the traffic!

I must disagree with the January 3rd 2006 comment. I get pretty good reception in the same area that person is. My phone is not supposed to be that great of one, but I have no problems whatsoever. My wife has the Nokia 3210 and she doesn't seem to have any problems with reception either. These are our only phones, and we also have good reception in our basement, which I can't say the same for my parents in our basement with Qwest. They were on roaming for some reason.
