my qwest wireless servis works some what good in my apartment but it drops when I am on a conversation with friends or checking my minutes of use while inside the building. but, when I go outside, no problem. I talked to a qqwest wireless servis person about this and they said it's the tower, and not the phone. they also said that they are working on this problem and when it's done, my phone will update according to new touar Availability. I guess when you are on the lower level of your own apartment, that might be the problem also. But other than that, grate servis everywhare else I go in the city of portland, oregon

Looks like it's real hit and miss with any phone or service. I started with AT&T years ago and then Cingular when they switched me over and never had any reception or dropped call problems throughout the Portland metro area, including Tigard and Sherwood. That is until my last move, last February, into the Hollywood area. Admittedly, living in the basement of an old brick building will dampen the signal, but having to walk a block away to an open parking lot everytime to make or receive any calls is getting tiresome. But there's the contract and I don't want to pay for both a cell and land line. I also had started a new job in Oregon City (on the hill above The Home Depot and the dump) and received bad coverage there also. I wonder if there is a connection? Who knows...

Always good reception, no problems around town (incl. tigard, tualitin, I-5 / Barbur, clackamas, beaverton, etc..). Some issues on 'Bonny Slope' area west of downtown over the mountain / hill thing (thompson road). No other carriers work there, either, however. Text messages do, but no voice.

I cancelled my hardline long distance account with ATT (since they sold my information to the NSA). I decided to go with T Mobile. Cannot hear anything--lots of dropped calls. Appears to be dead zones all over North Portland.

Horrible reception on this major campus with thousands of customers. I've worked here and been with Verizon for 15 years with many models. Verizon is horrible here with frequently dropped calls and fluctuating signals. Customer service has responded with "It's a known coverage area problem" Nice fix! T-Mobile and Nextell have towers on campus and totally rock. Verizon is just being cheap bastards.

I can barely make a call at all in this dead zone around my house. T-Mobile works fine here, but Cingular does not.

Cingular is awsome all round. I hav't had many problems and even used to have them when they where ATT! They where good then, I had a simiens phone. Plain an simple though. Cingular RULES! CDMA (Limited use technology) GSM (Used Around World) So if the world uses it. Why keep somthing that is going to go away soon? bye bye CDMA!

I live in Seattle area and travel to Oregon a lot. I have been on my cell phone many times and never droped a call while driving down I-5. Before I upgraded my phone I droped many calls, most of the time it is your phone not your netwrok.

Everytime I get on the phone in or within a block of my house it will end up in a dropped call. Sometimes I can stand in a particular spot by my back door and can have a sustained conversation. Other than that my phone works everywhere else in Portland and the surrounding areas.

If I find the right spot in the house, and don't move, I can complete calls with average reception and sound quality. Beyond that, the phone is close to useless where we live, and we're a little higher than many of our neighbors. If we drive a few blocks, service disappears completely in the low spots, resumes once we go up the hill. Some of this is my low-end, basic phone; my daughter's Samsung works much better, but the lack of towers in this area is, I suspect, the real culprit.

Used to have T-Moble but dropped them due to poor reception at home location. Started Cingular and reception is still very spotty and insconsistent. Both my wife and I have RAZR's and reception is same in this area. The problem is clearly a lack of towers in this area as the tower location map and Cingular's customer service confirm. I guess they are happy with just having towers near the major highways. Interesting thing is that the Customer Service reps claim they have no way of looking up forecasted tower installations, however when I was SOLD this contract the salesman seemed to know exactly when and where new towers would be installed. His information turned out to be false though...

Cingular is so bad in this area of Portland. My calls drop all the time and in many parts of this area my phone doesn't even ring. When I visit my friends house I have no coverage whatsoever and I always have to stand outside to talk even though that doesn't always work. Depsite contacting Cingular multiple times nothing is improving. I would NOT reccomend Cingular to those in N. Portland

T-Mobile is nearly useless in NE Portland. Dropped calls, intermittent reception and poor connections. The company says nothing is wrong in that area, so I guess they aren't planning to fix it.

If you stand on your head, clap your hands, and spin around three times you might get a clear call. Just make sure you don't move, otherwise it's gone.

Spotty, usually poor reception. Signal strength fluctuates from 0 to three bars while phone is sitting on table. Number of bars seems to have no relation to signal quality.

Get no reception in my apartment, the phone will ring and I will press my ear to just the right spot in the window and will get reception for 5 seconds, then lose the call. Network is always busy around dinner time. I seem to get text messages fine, but calls are very unpredictable. Moved into the new apartment not thinking I would have to spend $50 dollars a month on a landline. Ridiculous and expensive. Have heard the same from other callers. Someone said sometimes they can get service with their T-Mobile if they can find a sweet spot. Have been spending a majority of my day looking for that sweet spot and have even driven to the QFC on Barnes Rd.to have a conversation! When is the neighborhood going to be connected?
