Data does come thru, but phone service is non-existant to surprise, sudden functions (for brief periods). We assume it has something to do with the weather conditions. We are at the base of the Yachats River Valley, where it meets the ocean.

Sometimes the reception dies when it's really foggy or rainy. Called Verizon they said dial *228 send, chose option 2. That will locate the nearest tower. I think I was using the tower from Newport. Will try *228 when I am back in Yachats. Get ok coverage between Eugene and Yachats, some dead spots esp. between Yachats and Florence. Same thing happens with my Kindle - can't get a signal when it's foggy or raining hard in Yachats.
