With Verizon we get zero to one bar, sometimes if we're lucky we get 2 bars. People call and leave messages on the voice mail but the phone doesn't ring. Most of the time calls cut in and out and you can't understand what people are saying or can't hear them barely at all. We get dropped calls all the time and don't receive text messages half the time. There are several people in the area that has the same problem with Verizon that are using different model phones also.
Never had reception problems in Harrisburg or Middletown, the whole way on trips up 322 into Clearfield County. I can't believe people can't get any Verizon reception around here!
I get FULL reception in ALL of Harrisburg. This phone actually has 7 Signal Bars, but this site only lets me rate up to 5. Anyway, I get all 7 Signal bars, ANYWHERE I go. That would explain why their are billboards everywhere in the area saying, "Harrisburg is AT&T Country" I live in Shermans Dale, but I come to Harrisburg often. I get 5 or 6 bars in Shermans Dale. Anyway, even if you are underground with an AT&T phone, your phone will NOT lose a bar, unless you are DEEP underground, you will lose 1 bar at the most. Guaranteed. NOTE!: Verizon Wireless has issues in this area with giving people reception inside half the buildings you go in to. Verizon uses CDMA technology which is not notorious for penetrating thicker walls. AT&T uses GSM technology which has the largest range. (Meaning, AT&T does not have to build towers as close together as everyone else does) This Verizon Wireless issue also includes other companies that use CDMA technology, (Sprint, Alltel, Virgin Mobile) But if you are AT&T, or anyone else using GSM (T-Mobile), you will be fine and will be covered through out the whole area. Except T-Mobile's GSM in the area does not compare with AT&T's.
Reception was "Below Average" with previous phones (1 was GSM). Nov 05 we got 2 Razor's on the family plan and reception has almost always been "Good" to "Perfect" since then wherever we have been.
Used to have a little spotty service, but got the SMT5600 and a new SIM and everything has been perfect ever since. I get full reception everywhere in town and at work (Progress Ave). I have had great reception with Cingular even while travelling to other states. For anyone having problems with Cingular, I recommend a new phone and SIM because mine is flawless.
