Verizon has a very solid 3G network throughout the town of Jim Thorpe, and throughout Penn Forrest Township. Anywhere in the woods, buildings and cars, including Penn's Peak.

Coverage on AT&T in the majority of NEPA rivals Verizon. They both have their own strong / weak points; where one may lack coverage, the other is solid; in other areas the opposite may hold true. In Jim Thorpe and Penn Forrest Township, AT&T is very solid, holding 3G signal in the woods, buildings and cars. There are no real dead zones along route 903 to speak of, however the JT / PFT areas just received 3G 8 mo-a year ago, and there are some areas beyond PFT may lack 3G, though the EDGE network is 2nd to none where 3G is lacking.

Most of Jim Thorpe is 4-5 bars with ATT, which is great. Some areas do drop to 2-3, but I can honestly say I have never seen 1 bar, or no service.

About a year ago there was little or no reception with VW in Jim Thorpe. Now there is up and down the mountain. Nextel use to reign supreme I think the Cingular's and Verizon's are starting to catch up and give em a run for their $$$

In the town of Jim Thorpe, Sprint has a fair 1X coverage; 3-4 bars depending on physical location. No 3G. Along route 903 between town and PFT, there are several areas of no coverage. At my home in PFT, I would jump between 1-2 bars of Sprint 1X to 4-5 bars of Verizon roaming.
