There are two cellular network towers on the hill across the river from Laceyville - technically Windham Township. The first, on the left, was built in 2004 by a company out of Harrisburg, PA (according to WNEP-TV) and was later leased by the former company, Endless Mountains Wireless. Dobson Communications purchased Endless Mountains Wireless in 2005, and AT&T then purchased Endless Mountains Wireless in 2007. Since then, the network has remained pretty much the same coverage. Specifically, the old Dobson Cell One network went from Dallas, PA, up 309 / 29 all the way into Tunkhannock, then all the way west on 6 until Towanda. I don't know how far north and south of 6 this network went, however. Coverage in and around Laceyville is top-notch, as expected, because the cell site is right there. Data is going to be slow until 3G is rolled out, but for EDGE it's actually closer to the max. speed can handle. T-Mobile customers appear to be able to roam on the site. Also, AT&T customers, if the site ever goes out, can also roam on a very weak but usable signal from the local carrier Indigo Wireless. (I know this only because I had an unbranded phone that allowed manual network selection.) Note that up the road in Wyalusing, there is already 3G. (HSDPA.). Laceyville will likely remain GSM-only for the a while longer, as AT&T continues to struggle with bringing its 3G network to ALL of its network in a reasonable time frame. Technical information - The network is at high load most of the time, defaulting to AMR Half-Rate during most of the day. Thankfully, there are no other sites to handover to, so you usually won't get calls that cut in and out unless your signal becomes very weak.
