Indoor reception is impossible. Outdoor reception is not good either. I can hardly carry on with a conversation when the call was dropped from time to time.
nextel sucks - too many times, I cannot complete a call - called failed try again later, system busy try again later - user not available try again later - user busy in a3 - all when no one is on the phone. When I am in work I have full bars but calls go straight to voice mail the phone does not even ring. walkie talkie does not go thru half the time. I have called my phone from my office phone right next to it and call does not go thu, same with walkie talkie - someone should file a class action suit against Nextel - they can't provide the service they promise and they won't let you out of your contract so you are screwed either way
maybe i'm getting good karma after suffering with reception issues with Cingular for so long, but now with verizon, and with a good phone (probably something to do with it as well) I have not gotten anything less than perfect and I live on the bottom floor of a big building with lots of trees around. Even in the basement level of the apt. complex I get 5 bars. When i'm outta da house, I still have perfect reception. its been so good that if I go down to 3 bars i'm thinking wtf is going on, even 4 bars rarely happens. the only place I have any issues at all is on the basement level of where I go to school, but considering that NOBODY else ever has reception down there no matter what carrier they have, except a few other Verizon people, and the fact that I sometimes have enough bars there to carry out a phone call, i'd say thats pretty good. btw, my problems with Cingular were befor I moved so I have no idea how it measures up in this area.
To all you people who think T-Mobile is so bad: They're just started a few years ago and have been improving a lot since then. I've had them since the beginning and now their service works just about everywhere. They're even starting to roll out a 3G network.
There is nothing worse than Nextel, I travel the Blvd. NJ Olney etc. It is embarassing to try to have a business conversation since so many calls are dropped or no signal is available. Beware!
With my W800i and T-Mobile service, I get 4-5 bars outdoors. However, I step indoors a few feet, I get no reception at all. This is also true at my home in ZIP code 19422, as well as at work 19104.
