I have had the AT&T service since June 2004. I am thoroughly disgursted with the overall amount of dropped calls and such that I have. I could be sitting in teh same spot for an hour or 5 minutes on my phone and often times it unexpectedly cuts out, leaving me not sure what was last said. It is also very frustrating to the people I'm trying to talk to. Often times it happens when I have 2-4 bars of reception, so I am at a loss. As much as I hate to pay an early termination fee, I can't put up with it for the remainder of the two year contract. I have heard nothing but good about Verizon, so that is who I intend to go with.

Rarely I drop calls, but overall I have been happy recently with my TDMA AT&T Service. Reception is clear, no major problems calling / receiving. I have trouble getting reception in Greenfield inside buildings, though. Also get good reception on Pitt campus.

Nextel reception in 15210 zip is spotty. At least 5-10 of my calls get dropped in that area everyday. Sad since that is where I live and work.

On top of a mountain (or basically extemely tall his) overlooking Pittsburgh, but get lousy reception. Worst in 5 years with Sprint.

This TDMA service works very well when I'm out in the middle of nowhere. I ride my bike, sometimes alone, and on the rare occasion I need assistance, I can place a call from anywhere. It is old and heavy but I can place calls in places no one else can! I was the only person with a working cell phone at a business conference in Roanoke, West Virginia last year.

I'm mirroring the experience of the Churchill / Blackridge Verizon customer above. Repeated calls to T-Mobile have earned me promises that service will improve soon (never happened), a sympathetic "oh, you live on THAT side of the hill!" and the suggestion that I sign up for another year and trade my Motorola for a more sensitive model. A non-scientific test indicates that Sprint has a strong signal in my living room, where T-Mobile dies.

I get just enough reception in my house that I can't say "no" reception. Most of the time I can't place calls (but minutes get used as it's trying to connect, don't you know), or if I can get through the call will echo, then drop. The biggest problem is when I'll be sitting right next to my phone all day and it'll never ring, but all of a sudden I'll get a voicemail beep and the message will have been from just then, or maybe the previous day, or anytime in between. It just won't ring. I have to walk up the street to get three bars. The kicker is that some family members have AT&T wireless and their phones work fine. So it's not the house. I had even tried switching to a new phone, and it's not that either. As soon as my contract is up I'm switching providers. I don't know if it's Verizon's service or their crappy phone selection (their customer service on the matter was highly lacking), but either way I'm gone.

Reception is generally excellent in the Pittsburgh area. Once in a while the service will ac a little funny, but almost all of the time it's full bars.

In Arcadia court no reception at all, you may make a call but it will soon drop.
