Drove route 616 from Railroad to York New Salem with two new phones from Verizon and two old phones (two years old) from ATT. ATT is the winner. Along 616 Verizon had 0 bars to 1 bar. ATT had average of 2-3 enough that I could make a call. Glen Rock Boro - Verizon had 0, ATT had full strength. Seven Valleys Boro - Verizon had 0, ATT had 3-5 bars. Seven Valleys to Jacobus - Verizon had 1 bar, ATT had about 3. Heritage Rail Trail bet. Seven Valleys and Brillhart Station - Verizon had 0 to 1 bar, ATT had at least 3 in most spots, under the Howard Tunnel on the Rail Trail Verizon had 0 bars and ATT had 3. Outside of York New Salem - ATT was still better. We did not have a good signal with Verizon until we got closer to Richland Ave near York College.
March 2009 - Tested two (new) phones from Verizon and two phones on AT&T (two years old). Drove from Railroad Boro to York New Salem on Rte 616 then drove from New Salem to Indian Rock Elementary School near Richland Ave (more than 17 miles). Verizon only had 1 bar or none for most of the trip. AT&T had better signal - gave us enough bars to make calls. Inside Glen Rock Boro Verizon had nothing and AT&T had full strength. Inside Seven Valleys Verizon is zero and AT&T was good, abt 3 or 4 bars. Between Seven Valleys and Jacobus Verizon had one or two at the most, AT&T about 4 bars. On the Heritage Rail Trail between Seven Valleys and Brillhart Station-Verizon might have one or two bars at places, AT&T did better - 3 or more bars - also had signal inside Howard Tunnel on the Trail with ATT - not with Verizon. We are cancelling Verizon while we are still on our 30 day trial and keeping ATT.
