I had Verizon service which didn`t work at all unless I drove towards route 6. I had been hearing about Tracfone and since I am an infrequent cell user and Tracfone stated that reception worked in my area I gave it a shot. It`s now four days and I`ve spent over 5 HOURS on the phone with Tracfone, permanently lost my number ported from Verizon, and as of tonight the phone still can`t connect at my house. The only positive thing so far is that there are no contracts,there is a 30 day return policy and for 100 $ I got a reasonably decent phone and 420 minutes of service until Dec of 09`. Its a pay as you go cell company which in theory has you program codes into the phone which will connect with the nearest cell tower. Unfortunately for us in this area the towers are barely close enough to connect.. I`ll give it one more day of programming codes with them and then will decide to get an emergency e911 landline if needed. PS, I use Ooma for my home phone which is an internet based service (which uses your existing phones) so I really need either a cell phone that works in a power outage or a basic pay as you go landline for emergencies.

I live here and I have no land line. Depending where I am in my house, I may miss a call, but I do get voice mail alerts. There are no other companies get any service here at all. We have 2 phones and they both work well in this area.

Absolutely no reception whatsoever! Phone says no service. I get a blip about 3 / 4 of a mile up the road toward Greeley but then no signal until Route 6. Even then, signal goes in an out with the hills and valleys. What cell service works in this area????

Rt. 6, Twin lakes Rd.on into Milford and on Rt. 84 East to NYC are mostly dead zones with Verizon. My house in Walker Lake is hit and miss with reception. I have to call my own number to get messages. ***The Motorola Razr and the Motorola E815 camera phones are the ONLY two Verizon phones with beteter reception-- such as it is; it took a lot of investigating to determine this.
