In my apartment (Cricklewood), Nextel is the only one of the major carriers (Cingular, Verizon, TMobile) to get usable reception, ie. more than 1 bar. I previously had Cingular, and ~90% of the time in my apartment my phone would have no service, whereas now with Nextel I have 3-4 bars consistently and full reception outside in the parking lot.

Service is really good if you are near a major highway, but really sucks if you are in bumscrew nowhere, like the Central PA back roads and in the valleys. Nextel is pricey but not bad reception. I found that the walkie talkie thing was cool in the beginning, but hardly every use it now. I get good signals in inside buildings too for the most part.

The reception is fine but it is not hspa+ 21mbps. The fastest speed I have found is 700 kbps in State College. In NJ I can get 9mbps so the "issue" isn't on my end as the T-Mobile rep suggested.

Hwy. 26 / Downtown, Campus, State College, PA 16801 Sun Jul 10, 2005

This a roaming area for T-Mobile customers (no T-zones)! So, If you have free roaming there shouldn't be any problems. Overall my Sharp TM150 works well here and picks up good signals from Immix Wireless and AT&T (on campus). There is a dead spot on 26 between the 322 bypass and the mall where I've lost calls a few times. I used to have non-GSM Cingular and hated it. Now I'm pretty much in love with T-mobile. I would rate T-Mobile in this area as average GSM since you use the same towers as people with other carriers. Signals are always good downtown.

Extremely poor reception. Calls frequently get terminated. Talked to another friend with a T-Mobile connection and he too faces massive problems... SUCKS big time!

Reception is very good here in State College, but the towers aren't officially T-Mobile, they're Conestoga. Normally this wouldn't make a difference but you can't use T-Zones (T-Mobile's Wireless Internet) here because it's not supported through Conestoga.

Ive been in State College for 3 years now and just recently got Verizon and I have full service no matter where I am, even in every building house everywhere. I had AT&T until last month and same thing, I had full service everywhere, State college in my experience has full service everywhere now
