Verizon reception is fine (4-5 bars) along Toftrees Ave, but along Cricklewood drive, I get 2 bars at best, usually just 1. Frequent dropped calls and the phone strains for enough signal to start a new call.
In my apartment (Cricklewood), Nextel is the only one of the major carriers (Cingular, Verizon, TMobile) to get usable reception, ie. more than 1 bar. I previously had Cingular, and ~90% of the time in my apartment my phone would have no service, whereas now with Nextel I have 3-4 bars consistently and full reception outside in the parking lot.
This a roaming area for T-Mobile customers (no T-zones)! So, If you have free roaming there shouldn't be any problems. Overall my Sharp TM150 works well here and picks up good signals from Immix Wireless and AT&T (on campus). There is a dead spot on 26 between the 322 bypass and the mall where I've lost calls a few times. I used to have non-GSM Cingular and hated it. Now I'm pretty much in love with T-mobile. I would rate T-Mobile in this area as average GSM since you use the same towers as people with other carriers. Signals are always good downtown.
Extremely poor reception. Calls frequently get terminated. Talked to another friend with a T-Mobile connection and he too faces massive problems... SUCKS big time!
I get excellent reception almost everywhere around campus and in town, even inside of buildings. Occassionally my service will fade out for a few minutes for some reason out where I live (copperbeech). but overall i'm not having nearly the difficulty everyone else seems to be having with AT&T / Cingular around campus... afterall, PSU campus is an AT&T campus... so signal should be strong almost everywhere
