Verizon
If you stand on one leg and are in the correct corner of the house (that keeps changing) you might be able to carry on a 30 second conversation

Sprint
Not sure what area the Nov 6 '09 review applies to. I get one bar or no bars on my 6 mo. old LG Sprint non-smartphone when at home. Drop calls about once a minute - once every 2 minutes at home - all the time. Can't use a service that can't stay connected.

Verizon
Over the last six months reception has gone from reliable to horrible. No call lasts more than 30 seconds before the call is dropped! Of course, Verizon customer service doesn't know of any problems; "it must be my phone". Verizon does know how many of your calls are dropped, and you can get out of your contract. Be nasty and persistant.

I just switched from verizon. It is like night and day. I have excellent reception in Rouzerville and Waynesboro. I haven't tried the Top of Blue Ridge Summit but they just turned on a tower in Fairfield since Jan 2010. Just talked the other day from Rt997 all along Mentzer Gap Rd. over to Rouzerville with no problems. I could NEVER do that with Verizon. Goodbye dropped calls.

Sprint
Sprint has made MAJOR improvements in 2009. By far, they cover Franklin County better than any other company now. Cheaper plans too. Good high-speed data on smart phones. Can not be beat. Any older comments about poor service are no longer valid for Sprint.

T-Mobile
T-Mobile great choice, very seldom drop calls. Beats Sprint hands down. Seems Sprints days are numbered. Although Nextel would be second choice. Stay far from the Sprint / Nextel Hybrid service. I Know 10-20 folks who tried the S / N Hybrid and only one stayed with it, that was North Hagerstown area.

AT&T
I have had AT&T / Cingular for the past 4 years. I have never had reliable reception in Rouzerville. Every now and then I can send a text message or make or receive a phone call, but that is a very rare thing. We've been promised a tower so that we could have better reception around here, but our "wonderful" (it's hard to tell how to take some things when you're reading them, so I'll help you out with this one: I don't really mean 'wonderful') township supervisors are more worried about arguing the unimportant things amongst themselves, than they are about getting a tower up for the hardworking citizens of Waynesboro / Rouzerville. I love my phone. It is great all-around! I just can't stand the fact that there is no signal in Rouzerville, and that I constantly drop calls on Rt. 16. Very patchy service between here and Mercersburg. No signal from Rouzerville through to Emmitsburg. Pretty good signal in Gettysburg, but none from Blue Ridge to the other side of Fairfield. Dropped calls constantly on 316 between Wboro and Chambersburg. Pretty steady / reliable service on 997 from here to Cburg. Also, fairly good reception from 997 to Mentzer Gap to Old Forge Road. Great coverage in Hagerstown, MD; Martinsburg, WV; Carlisle, PA; Harrisburg, PA. Patchy service around Ft. Loudon, PA. St. Thomas, PA has decent reception. Anywhere else you are curious about? I'm all over with my phone. I can tell you where it will work and where it wont!

I use my cell phone for mostly buisness and with having 1 or no bars at all it really doesn't help. People with Verizon walk in and out of the office no problem but if I move my head, my call is dropped. Happens all the time and with buisness its just no good at all.

Dead spot have to drive about a mile for any reception. Different people with different phones and carriers have reported the same problem here.

Verizon
This is outdoor reception. I only get one bar in my house. My brother-in-law gets better reception on his new lg-3200 (3 bars in my house) There is a dead spot in Verizon coverage nearby - on Rte 997 south of Manheim Rd. This may be true for other carriers as well. It is coming up against a mountain to the east.
