Going to South Kingstown, two spots that reception simply evaporates! At the Rte1 / Rte4 intersection and then again in front of the Rose Shack on Rte 1.

I have found excellent coverage by Nextel throughout the populated areas of the west bay areas of RI. Never had a dropped call.

Rest assured - you will drop your call within 100 yards of exit 6 and it will not return until exit 5 - don't bother making phone calls between exit 7 and 5.

We can't use our cell phones from here and the signal is poor until we drive at least 3 miles away. We are unable to use our included mobile-to-mobile and long-distance minutes from home, we use up our monthly allowance of peak minutes faster than if we were able to use the phone from home. Just got off phone with a tech at Verizon and found out Verizon has tower about 6-7 miles from our home in No. Kingstown. The tech submitted a trouble ticket to initiate a troubleshooting investigation, but apparently compensation is not possible... except that if we have a dropped call and immediately call that number back (which will verify our bad service was the problem). It will trigger a one-minute credit toward our monthly allowance. The trouble is, we have learned not to place calls from here in the first place. So, what we now have to do is regularly try to use it just to compensate ourselves for the lost minutes. Quite unsatisfactory.
