i have never in the time I owned a phone had a dropped call from verizon. Since I moved to Rhode Island from Pennsylvania; My calls are dropped at lest once a day. It's ridiculous. I don't get very good reception either especially over by the brown campus.

Verizon gets ok to excellent reception around most of Providence. The problem is their reception is absolutely terrible inside most buildings, especially in my house. Drat.

Have not had a dropped call in this area. They must have new towers around here because all the bars are up on my phone. Customer service I must say was pretty bad when they were Cingular but since they switched over to AT&T their customer service has somewhat improved.

Great site. Thanks! I used to have no problems with Verizon until I moved to the Northeast (from Midwest). I drop at least one call per day (VZ can run a report for the last 6 months and credit you for dropped calls). Service has gotten worse in this area from 1-2 bars 6 months ago to zero (EVDO only) to 1 bar within the last month (this is outside my house not inside!). I have swapped out my phone 4 times, each time for a refurbished VX8300. I was finally told that the newer phones work off the EVDO network and have better reception (not sure exactly how that works but it probably has to do with maintaining consistency in signal strength). VZ's solution for my problems is they would give me the 2-year contract rate on a new phone. Unfortunately, it will cost me over $250 for a (nice, comparable) new phone with no guarantees of improved call quality or less dropped calls. So do I break my contract for $100 or stick with the most reliable (for dropping calls and poor reception) network? Hmmm...

Varies between zero and three bars. Dropped calls, sound cutting out, callers going straight to voicemail, etc. I was pretty happy with T-Mobile when I lived on the East Side, but over here it's terrible. Also pretty spotty on RIC campus, but better outside buildings.

Ok Verizon is basically one of the best around for reception in rhode island I literally have no dropped calls with them except when I am surrounded by trees like in a forest. But my problem is there customer service is horrible which is leading me to sway to another company. O and dont buy a razr I had 3 replaced in 1 month. But time after time I am calling Verizon or going to there store, I have had enough with this company and it is just a hassle even for the service you get, I rather have a few more droppped calls for better customer service any day. And I am paying up the ass for Verizon WHO NEEDS THEM! DONT GET VERIZON - Ok how about T-MOBILE(WORST RECEPTION) ok customer service. Enough Said - I am gona try Cingular next maybe I wont get a black lady in virginia thats a asshole that is my customer service rep.

Perfect reception haven't had a problem yet in the surrounding Providence Area. However on route 146 North there is a dead spot near the 146A / 146North Worcester split.

The coverage is one minute wonderful, but then it dissapears for 5-10 mins. It seems that on Cingular on the east side of providence (and on the west side to an extent), I keep being bounced around to different systems, some better than others. In my house I sometimes have good coverage (3 bars) but usually have none. At work it varies from no coverage to full coverage, with no known modifiable factors on my part
