I have never had any reception problems anywhere in Providence or where I live in Warren,RI. The only issues I've encountered are with other people calling me with differant service.

i have never in the time I owned a phone had a dropped call from verizon. Since I moved to Rhode Island from Pennsylvania; My calls are dropped at lest once a day. It's ridiculous. I don't get very good reception either especially over by the brown campus.

Great site. Thanks! I used to have no problems with Verizon until I moved to the Northeast (from Midwest). I drop at least one call per day (VZ can run a report for the last 6 months and credit you for dropped calls). Service has gotten worse in this area from 1-2 bars 6 months ago to zero (EVDO only) to 1 bar within the last month (this is outside my house not inside!). I have swapped out my phone 4 times, each time for a refurbished VX8300. I was finally told that the newer phones work off the EVDO network and have better reception (not sure exactly how that works but it probably has to do with maintaining consistency in signal strength). VZ's solution for my problems is they would give me the 2-year contract rate on a new phone. Unfortunately, it will cost me over $250 for a (nice, comparable) new phone with no guarantees of improved call quality or less dropped calls. So do I break my contract for $100 or stick with the most reliable (for dropping calls and poor reception) network? Hmmm...

Verizon Wireless has almost no reception anywhere in Pawtuxet Village. Repeated complaints to Verizon Wireless has resulted in a change of phones, to a Tri-Mode, however, that has not solved the problem. Supposedly there is a tower on or near Thurbers Avenue, about, six minutes away, but, it certainly doesn't help reception.

How do I lose my calls? Let me count the ways. When my call is actually connected, my reception is fine, but fifty percent of my calls are lost when I use my phone in my home. Outside, on the street, I have no complaints about my phone or service at all. What is it about me being inside my house that makes my calls become lost?

I travel between Providence and Washington DC a lot. I always have reception and most of the time I'm at four or Five Bars. Inside buildings, even in basements, I'm good to go. I really think the phone itself has a major say in the reception. I've traveled into rural parts of Virginia and MASS on Verizon with my Samsung and been just fine. I've used T-Mobile, Sprint, and AT&T and none of them compare to the reception I get with Verizon. Just don't buy a LG phone if you go with Verizon. My experience with LG products has been horrible... but that's just me.

Reception here is spotty from here to about 3-4 blocks out. Sometimes I get great reception, sometimes squat... and this is all standing in the same location! Trying to ditch my land line but this is making it difficult... AT&T reception was much better.

verizon is good for most part of providence, but for some reason, really poor around doyle - it's getting slightly better over the years - but receiving phone calls - goes directly to voice mail sometimes even when phone is on! most other friends in providence with verizon are happy though with reception
