I have never had any reception problems anywhere in Providence or where I live in Warren,RI. The only issues I've encountered are with other people calling me with differant service.

Have not had a dropped call in this area. They must have new towers around here because all the bars are up on my phone. Customer service I must say was pretty bad when they were Cingular but since they switched over to AT&T their customer service has somewhat improved.

Perfect reception haven't had a problem yet in the surrounding Providence Area. However on route 146 North there is a dead spot near the 146A / 146North Worcester split.

Sometimes I'll have good reception, and then out of no where the call will drop. 98% of the time I cannot receive Direct Connect either. My husband has a Sprint Sanyo with Nextel Direct Connect and it has worse reception than my phone.

Verizon gets ok to excellent reception around most of Providence. The problem is their reception is absolutely terrible inside most buildings, especially in my house. Drat.

T-Mobile has the best plans and nice phones, but the coverage is probably the worst among the major carriers. Reception is decent near the cities, but is bad on highways and country roads.

The reception in most areas of North Providence is awful. But in the Marieville section of town. Most of the time I just leave my phone off. What a waste of money.

Great site. Thanks! I used to have no problems with Verizon until I moved to the Northeast (from Midwest). I drop at least one call per day (VZ can run a report for the last 6 months and credit you for dropped calls). Service has gotten worse in this area from 1-2 bars 6 months ago to zero (EVDO only) to 1 bar within the last month (this is outside my house not inside!). I have swapped out my phone 4 times, each time for a refurbished VX8300. I was finally told that the newer phones work off the EVDO network and have better reception (not sure exactly how that works but it probably has to do with maintaining consistency in signal strength). VZ's solution for my problems is they would give me the 2-year contract rate on a new phone. Unfortunately, it will cost me over $250 for a (nice, comparable) new phone with no guarantees of improved call quality or less dropped calls. So do I break my contract for $100 or stick with the most reliable (for dropping calls and poor reception) network? Hmmm...

Verizon Wireless has almost no reception anywhere in Pawtuxet Village. Repeated complaints to Verizon Wireless has resulted in a change of phones, to a Tri-Mode, however, that has not solved the problem. Supposedly there is a tower on or near Thurbers Avenue, about, six minutes away, but, it certainly doesn't help reception.
