Sprint sucks with phones or their broadband service west of Clover. I would advise everyone to steer clear of any Sprint products if you live in South Carolina.

We recently moved to the area, and brought our cell phone provider with us (for now). I have had pretty good coverage with Sprint. My husband and I both use Sprint. The phone you choose, definitely makes a difference. My husband has the Samsung SPH-a900 (The Edge), and it doesn't get any reception inside our house, but mine works well.

Reception is poor in York County. All over York County there are dead spots. I don't think it matters who your carrier is or which phone you have. Maybe this is the black hole. After living here for a while you learn where you can call and where you cannot. We cannot get reception at our house in Clover except in one room between the 2 closets! This is totally ridiculous when you pay so much for this service and then it is not even reliable. They lock you in for 2 years and you just hope if you have trouble you are not in a dead spot. Clover is one of the worst spots for poor reception for most carriers as I know people with different carriers. I used to think it was just my crummy phone but now it seems it does not matter. I would like to know what the problem is. I have Verizon but it is the same with other carriers also. So far it seems Cingular has the best service here in York county but they are not great just better than several others. Will not go back with Verizon once this term is up.

As I call it, No-Tel, Alltel coverage is poor in the Clover area NW of town. Gastonia is also poor. If I get closer to Charlotte, NC, it gets better. I believe the phone itself is mostly the problem. I had a friend get the same phone, and he couldn't get coverage at his home on Pole Branch Rd. He changed phones, and it picks up better, but not great.

Alltel service is poor in Clover. My phone roams analog more than it's on it's own network. This is my second 8910 in 3 months. The first was replaced under warranty because it wouldn't get signal at all. Sprint PCS and AT&T was no better. I travel the east coast and I have to say that I would much rather have my Sprint service back than be locked into a 2 year agreement with Alltel.
