I can get reception but can only talk for 30 seconds at a time before the call is dropped and after the call is dropped I get no service at all for up about two minutes. I been told that it not AT&T network but the iphone was made to be use in a city setting and not in the suburbs. Also the 3G on this this phone is spotty and there time when I get no 3G service all, this can last for 15 to 30 minutes at a time.

ATT coverage on Fort Jackson absolutely sucks neither my iPhone nor Blackberry have decent reception. 80% of the time I have no reception at all. T-Mobile sucks as well. If you work on Fort Jackson don't even bother having a cell phone.

Sometimes one bar, often none in my part of the subdivision (Southeast Columbia, near the VA Hospital). I just tested a Samsung A437 and a Nokia 6555 here in hopes of getting better reception in my house, but neither worked as well as my old Motorola, which barely works at all. Outside my neighborhood, AT&T (Cingular) reception is pretty good in this part of town, but it's pretty discouraging not to have cell service at home.

It's been this way for a year. Before that, I could actually use the phone in the house. Now, it's either no bars or one bar. Sometimes four or five bars will flicker, but it's just a flicker. CALL FAILED is what I get.

Actually have Suncom service and have no complaints expept cannot use cell phone at home. Get one to no bars even standing put in the street. Also does not work when I am in my office on Platt Springs Rd.in West Columbia. I am near a window but do not get but one bar and then it will drop the call. Drops all calls when only 1 bar is showing. Very aggravating that I see everyone els's phones working but not mine.

In my house, no matter what room I'm in my reception is "iffy" very, and I do mean very, seldom do I get 3 to all five bars, but its all about where i'm standing. Outside the reception is better, but no matter where i'm going in Columbia, SC, my calls get dropped at least once a day. It could be the other person's phone, but majority of the time when I look at my phone after the call is dropped, the colors of my bars have gone grey and I have lost all service. Then it comes back in a matter of some seconds.

The Cingular / ATT merger has meant absolutely nothing for Cingular customers in SC. Even though AT&T had substantial 800 MHz GSM network and infrastructure here Cingular either didn't buy it or else let SunCom buy it in this state. Cingular apparently will not contract with Suncom so that customers here will have "more bars in more places". Even if you have a dual band phone, it is of no benefit whatsoever if you live in this state. You only have access to the very poorly performing 1.9 GSM Cingular network. It is bad business ethics for Cingular to run those ads for "more bars in more places' in this state because it is clearly misleading to potential customers. Yet on one seems to realize that Cingular is doing this. It simply unbelievable. Wireless customers are victimized because they don't understand the various wireless technologies. I have switched to one of the 800 MHz CDMA providers. The difference in signal strength is unbelievable, and the attitude of customer service is wonderful. I don't see how Cingular gets away with the things it does. I hope more Cingular customers in SC will wake up and realize that all this talk about the meger (more bars in more places) means nothing for customers based in SC. Is is indeed sad when a large wireless provider can get away with this.

Reception cuts out on me unexpectedly, and returns equally as unexpectedly. Sometimes it switches over to Cingular Extend for a while, then switches back.
