Travel extensively around Columbia and surrounding cities for work, use Alltel for work phone. Have Verizon for personal phone. Have never had one problem with Alltel in any area. Verizon is spotty, which suprised me because they are usually the best everywhere. I-20 towards Florence is really poor, and interstates are poor aruond columbia as well. Alltel would be my choice here.

Verizon is the best! My family has Alltel and Nextel and they keep asking to use my phone because they do not get reception in most places! Feels good to be a part of the most reliable network!

Yeah, T-Mobile is not available in our area. But with nationwide roaming free, I got the phone out of aiken, and use it in columbia with no problems except for if someone wants to call you from a landline, it's long distance.

Nextel has progressively gotten better in the past two years here in South Carolina. This is especially the case in the major cities and along the interstates that link them. I've used their phones for the past five years and they just get better with each model. I especially enjoyed recently trying their new i315 phone that has a feature called, "Direct Talk” - in addition to all their usual features (digital walkie-talkie, internet, cellular modem as well as being a very reliable cell phone). With two Nextel phones that have, “Direct Talk”, I was able to communicate between them reliably outside for at least two miles, even when I was no where near a cellular tower. I read that as they come out with new models this feature will be the norm. It's very useful in large office buildings, shopping malls as well as out in the woods when hiking or between boats off the coast (range between boats was reliably over 5 miles). Overall Nextel has robust products with better coverage than the phones of other family members seem to have in the same locations with their Verizon Wireless phones. Nextel also has excellent customer service. I don't work for Nextel, but their products work 24 / 7 to fill our family needs here in South Carolina.

I recently had Verizon which didn't work when I traveled to the beach. I changed to Alltel and purchased a Motorola for myself and a Nokia for my wife. We have been very pleased with the service we recieved from our sales person and the reception on our way to the beach this weekend was great. It dropped out only once on 17 but it was a huge improvement over our last carrier.

I have a Nokia 3620 phones for Suncom. And I say the phone and service are great in my area. I rarely get dropped calls. My signal is alway at max. The reception is pretty ok on the nokia 3620. I had a Motorola C332t from SunCom and that was a good phone, good signal, good reception. CS for SunCom is pretty great. I prefer SunCom over any other phone carrier.

Have had Verizon Wireless for 10+ years with no problems. Calls are clear and internet apps work well whether at home or traveling around the US. Only glitch is that sometimes texts and messages are delayed when I travel.
