I had no reception. I had to purchase an Samsung Air Rave from Sprint in order to boost signal in my home or otherwise could not use my cell phone at all. It costs an extra $5 per month as an additional service plan offering. My neighbors have other plans and services and truly are in much the same situation. My guests who do not have Sprint do not have reception when they come to my home. When I purchased the Air Rave it was no surprise to the Sprint personnel at the store that I was from Fort Mill. Reception here is just poor.

1-2 bars with calls often being dropped due to "signal fade", during calls voice will cut in and out. This all happens outside in the yard!

80% of the time 'Call was lost'. The other 20% the caller cannot hear me. Verizon is useless in this area.

T-Mobile coverage has been problematic for me. I get one or zero bars in my house. Outside, I might get one or two. On cloudy days, coverage is almost nil. My wife works less than two miles near Shoneys off Carrowinds and she cannot get any coverage. Yet driving on Pleasant Road, which we use to go to work and home, we get 4-5 bars. It seems to me that we could benefit from one cell tower in our area Around Charlotte, the coverage is much better. Driving around NC and SC, we find coverage to be on average pretty good. Much better since T-Mobile took over from SunCom. I have been with T-Mobile for over 4 years having started with them in San Diego. In SoCal, their coverage often bested Verizon -- and their rate plans were much more economical. Maybe in another couple of years, T-Mobile's presence in the Piedmont will improve. I am now out of contract and trying to decide to stay with T-Mobile or look elsewhere.

The phone reception in Regent Park (the old Heritage USA) is very very poor. I only get 1 or 2 bars, and then every call dies out on me. I called Verizon, and was told that we have 2 to 3 towers within a 2 mile radius, but the reception is for the birds. I can call all over Charlotte, and even out of town with good reception, but not Fort Mill. Linda M.

Coverage is fantastic around throughout Fort Mill, Tega Cay, and down all around Rock Hill. According to the tower lookup on this site the closes tower to Fort Mill is owned by alltel. And I know the signal is far stronger and works in more places than my old Verizon E815. I would definitely recommend the service to others as I was honestly quite surprised to see how strong the Alltel signal was in this area compared to what I hear about most others.

Can't hold service when driving on Regent Pkwy. and may get a bar or two when I get into my neighborhood. In the house, I can be sitting still and the call will drop. I've complained numerous times to Sprint without any resolution.

Gauguin Lane In Tega Cay, Fort Mill, SC 29708 |
Fri Dec 01, 2006 |
I have been bugging Verizon for over a year. Advised them that the tower in Tega Cay, owned by Alltel, has room for rentals; but they kept telling me they were putting up a tower in 2006 to improve our service. The last time I talked with them, a month ago, I was told they put up 2 towers, in the Carowinds area. They expected service to be better in the Lake Wylie, Tega Cay, and Fort Mill area. It is NOT any better. I am forwarding this whole page to Verizon. Of course I have already told them the service is not improved; and the response is that "... .We do not guarantee service inside a home or any building." So that's it! It isn't going to get any better, it appears!

No reception in my house (on a lucky day I get up to 2 bars with bad voice connect) Talkable reception in my driveway. I can talk 2-3 bars but sometimes drop calls and it is always not clear voice connect. No way I would try data. They don't seem to care or want to hear it. 4 calls in two years, never hear back from them except if I am a few days late paying the bill. Looking for alternatives- nothing seems good. All they ever ask is did you update your software and I am like "yes" I know *228 quite well, thank you.

Terrible reception. Changed phones and no improvement. I used to get great reception about 6 months ago... don't know what changed. I use my phone for work so synchronization is critical. I miss most phone calls, most emails and wind up on extended service most of the time while at home. Given the explosion in growth in this area it is a shame that they don't improve service. There is a tower near my house but apparently if Verizon has a tower that the phone can reach it will stay on it first. I would change service immediately if another carrier gets better reception!

I get more dropped calls than calls that get through - it doesn't matter sometimes if I stand in the middle of the street I can get an extended network signal. It's awful. I get an ok signal in south charlotte, and a really good signal on the other side of Fort Mill - by White Grove and the high school

the new razr reception is worst than my old phone - the V60. At home, inside - my razr gets 1-3 bars but it won't hold the signal - so I get drop calls all the time - and sometime, no calls. My old V60 would get 3-5 bars. Now granted, the signal is "extended network" so it has to be someone else's network... hmmm. Cingular??? dk. It's only recently that the extended network got stronger, so someone did some upgrading. like I said before, dk who but i'm guessing cingular. Rumor is that Tega Cay is getting a new Verizon tower - but I won't hold my breath. btw, i'm returning the razr, but don't know what i'm gonna get instead... .
