Service off I-85 up 150 lmost non existant even though thier coverage map shows full coverage. Goes to show will tell you anything just to make a sale.
I got great receiption in Gaffney after I switched from a Motorola phone to a Nokia phone. For some reason, that matters. I always, always lose drop a call on my way home from Greenville to Gaffney via I-85. The where varies from day to day, but the dropped call is a guarantee.
Alltel does really well all throughout Gaffney in my experience. I know several people that use Alltel and I've never heard a complaint about it so I switched over from Cingular. I've been pretty much convinced that Alltel has the best network here. It's always on full signal and even indoors in brick houses I have no problems making a call and the signal is still good. Big buildings like Wal-Mart or Lowe's aren't a problem either. When I compared plans about a month ago Alltel seemed like a pretty good deal too. They gave more minutes than Verizon or Cingular and My Circle was a nice feature. I've been happy with the service overall.
No Alltel service in Rutherford County, NC... As soon as you enter into NC on route 221-A, there will be no Alltel Service. Depending on your plan, A solid R may appear on the phone (you are using US Cellular on SID 246) or a blinking R may appear(using Verizon on SID 139 or Sprint on SID 4376). However Alltel service gets better as you head back into Cherokee County, SC.
There been better coverage elsewhere around this area, especially into town. Calls easily get dropped indoors, and not much better outdoors. Stay away from Cingular If you live in or near eastern Cherokee County.
Perfect Coverage down Floyd Baker Blvd.well into the Business district of Gaffney. You get great reception in all buildings within at least a mile of I-85. Alltel is highly recommended in Gaffney!
Halfway between Gaffney and Cowpens - Not the best coverage, but not the worst either. Spirnt has 0 reception here. Alltel coverage is great when you are in downtown Cowpens, also great coverage into Chesnee. This location is probably the only place in this area with a below average signal.
Nextel isn't as good this far down Green River Rd near the Thicketty area. The closest tower is on the interstate near Rugs Int'l. Also dead signal where Beaver Ridge Rd meets Beaver Dam Rd. Unless your close to the interstate, your reception kind sux
