Wife and I both have very poor to no service in Stono Ferry. Coverage starts to fall off when you cross Rantowles Creek then calls break up badly when on Hwy. 162. Closest towers are on Johns Island and in west Hollywood. Both are more than 3-4 miles from Stono Ferry. Verizon Tech Support says the operable range of a tower is 3 miles. They are checking to see if we can move to a different carrier... may try Cingular or Alltel seeing that they have good coverage in the area... .don't rely on Verizon there at all!

The decision for the best provider here is easy. I just wish I'd of realized that earlier before being stuck in a contract with Verizon. Since I switched to Alltel I've noticed a world of difference. I found the cell phone tower search on this site and saw Alltel has the closest tower to here. And after trying the service, it is absolutely perfect all over the area, even in outlying areas. Alltel is the easy choice for the best service around here.

I have no reception after I take the turn off at 162 and 17. They have told me that they plan on putting up additional towers up our way- I've been hearing that for 3 years. Plan on switching to Suncom. Friends that have that phone get reception at my house.

Cell towers have gone up in my area but Verizon signal still very poor

Local Verizon cell phone provides no service here. However my Canadian serviced Cell phone from Toronto works just fine here, borrowing a signal from the Cingular local provider - crazy!
