Just moved to Myrtle Beach. The iPhone 5S came out so I purchased through Sprint on day one. Using 3G data is useless. Constantly dropped to 1X (Edge) on data speed. It's worse than AOL dial-up. Now it has started showing "Extended" instead of the name Sprint because it is using other carriers towers to route my phone calls. I cannot even get up and walk around the house while I talk, lest I get cut-off every time I am on the phone. I am taking a loss and selling my brand new phone to Gazelle for $9.00 less than I purchased it for. That still leaves me with losing the $35.00 set-up fee and $270.00 early termination fee. The service is so bad that I will lose the money, but it is better than putting up with Sprint's Unlimited Nothingness in Myrtle Beach for the next two years. No wonder they can offer Unlimited Talk, Text, and Data. Unfortunately, unlimited nothingness is pretty useless. Goodbye Sprint. I will go with Verizon, which is getting exceptional reviews on this website, and appears to indeed have a true 4G LTE SIGNAL IN ALL OF Myrtle Beach.

Service inside house is horrible. We have 3 phones and in order for us to use the Internet, one of us had to turn on the hot spot. At best, we get Edge when we have the Samsung 4S. To get 4G, we have to walk a block down the street.

Just moved from Louisville to here. Coverage is the pits. I get between 0 and 2 bars max in my home and in most places around Carolina Forest. I have to go "downtown" (closer to the beach) to get proper reception and even then it pails to what it was like in Louisville. I'm seriously contemplating switching to Verizon who consistently has the strongest network in the most places and has blazing fast data speeds. It's too bad, because I really like Sprint a LOT. But if the coverage isn't there, then what's the point?

After having T-Mobile (then-Suncom) for years, I switched to Sprint over a year ago because of their great "deal." Turns out both services, especially Sprint, were subpar. Changing to Verizon is the best decision you'll make. Do not hesitate... it may be more expensive than the competition but their LTE service for iPhone is unbeatable. They have towers everywhere up and down the strand so you'll never be without a signal in the city limits.

i use Sprint net work on ting, ting cost me 70.00 a month for 4 phones I use 1000 min a month and about 7000 text, with only wifi use for data of a min of 3-5 mg, my service at my home is,great with a few dropped calls usually on ones over 30 minutes, may be my phone overheating,i tried t mobile for 3 months and the service was the same in my location.my sister who lives in azalya lakes the townhomes, can barley get service inside her home with same company,4 bars out side but inside she hast to stand in certain spots and often calls dont go through if I call her texting her is fine, she has a kycero milano,my mother has Verizon it is the same way at my sisters home, barley service inside and if you walk around you will lose you connection. the cost savings of what I was paying (240.00) a month to 65-70.00,was well worth the switch to ting no contract, and you can bring over any Sprint device,or by one from them if the phone sits an doesn't get used at all it will cost you 6.00 a month work great for my kids that have spuratic use..Cathy see craigs list for 25,00 off coupon

I have been with AT&T for 7-1 / 2 years. I lived in New York-no problems, I lived in Sacramento, CA-no problems, I went back to my home town Baltimore, MD. then I decided to move to Myrtle Beach, S.C. Here in Surfside Beach, S.C. they have no reception. I have to walk outside in the middle of the parking lot, hold the phone in the air, spinning in cicles to hopefuly get a bar or 2.

I would recommend Sprint for the following reasons: first and foremost, you cannot beat Sprint's unlimited data deal. Also, for those uninformed, all plans include free roaming. I admit I don't get good signal almost ever on Sprint's network, but where they fall short my phone will switch over to Verizon's network where I get 5 bars on their fast network for free! I would say not to count on getting good service from them anywhere indoors strictly because the bandwidths the network uses are too weak to penetrate thick walls, but again this is where the use of the "extended" networks come in. If you wait it out, I can almost guarantee their service will get better, especially after their acquisition of Clearwire goes through (hopeful). Then you can laugh at all your friends who have data limits and have to constantly check their usage. Personally, I don't want to have to pay a la carte for tons of data usage, and one day when Sprint is forced to throw out their unlimited data deals, I will be grandfathered in at $80 flat a month.

Just got AT&T and almost 0 bars I have to go outside and wave my phone over my head like The Lion King to get a single bar. When I'm inside my phone doesn't move from the window or forget texting or phone calls.

Sprint is the worst cellphone service ever. I have to sit in my closet to hopefully get reception or go out in my backyard and hope I find a good spot and then not move. Sprint has given me the same excuse saying they are working on it and it will be fixed soon. Ummmm it's been 2 years what exactly are they doing? They've given me an airwave machine for my house. I can sit right in front of it and still nothing, I may get a discount once in a while on my bill if I act a big enough fool.

My reception is hideous... .many many dropped calls and lots of "network busy." I don't always get my calls aor voice mails until hours later. When I call Sprint, I feel like they are blowing smoke up my skirt.

the signal in most of the myrtle beach area is practically non-existent. calls get dropped. if someone tries to call me, it usually doesn't go through and they just get sent straight to voice mail. if I try to place a call, I have to try over and over until the tower decides not to reject me. texts can take hours to get through. and forget about data. never had this kind of trouble with t-mobile. should not have switched.

Verizon

I just spent three days in Myrtle Beach(12 / 26-12 / 28)I received a call on 12 / 26 as I was existing off I95 and the reception was perfect. However, I did not receive a call or text, or able to place a call or text until 1 / 2 mile from I95 - 3 days later on 12 / 28! Went to Verizon while in Horry County and they said my phone was dead. Asked then why I am still receiving e-mails? Solution was to buy a new Blackberry for $250.00 because "sometimes this is how phones die." Has anyone else ever had this problem?
