Reception is very poor. You have to move around outside to get any bars at all. Will now work inside the house, and if it does your calls are dropped. Very spotty around the area.
HTC has been promising that a new tower will be coming for this area because they are aware of this problem for this area of carolia forest. The problem is we have been waiting now for 2 years. Think that it's been long enough.
Absolutely THE worst VZW reception ever here in Myrtle Beach! Being from NYC metro area I'm used of VZW being the best. I barely got a signal in my room and going outside was marginally better. I experienced 3-4 dropped calls per day, mostly in my room. I've traveled moderately across the US and this is by far the worst reception I ever experienced. The island is so small and flat, 1 well placed VZW tower could probably solve the problem. It should also be noted the reception was equally as poor on my Blackberry as my wifes LG!

My bars come and go as well as the NO SERVICE message. I can sometimes hear the phone ring but can never answer it at my house. I have to drive ~2 miles away before I can make and receive calls. Text messages sometimes take 20+ minutes to send because of the bad reception inside and outside of my house and in my area. T-Mobile is supposed to be great but it doesn't seem to work at all for me and it's really annoying!
Verizon sucks in Myrtle beach. Signal bouncing all over the place, loosing it at some points (all phones we have). Luckily I pulled up the service menu and changed it to "cell only" which forced it to roam on alltel. With the Alltel service, I've had 4 bars 1x and EV the entire time. They really need to finish the merger because Alltel is much stronger than Verizon here. It is pitiful how terrible Verizon is.
Reception with Verizon used to be pretty bad here, but there's a new tower nearby now and reception is strong even in the summer. I haven't had a dropped / staticy call in about ten months.
