Never had a dropped call with Alltel. 7 towers within 5 miles of this location. Started having intermittent trouble when Verizon took over. Was told I needed to get a new Verizon phone which would fix reception problem. Got a droid. No 3g here so very few apps work, and those that do work slowly. (will alert me I have a message on FB but will Never load ect) After March 5th I had no reception in my neighborhood at all. Was told that the problem was I had a Verizon phone on an altell plan, switching would fix problem. So I switched. (plan was FAR more expensive with less perks than alltel) Still No reception. So then I was told they were updating the towers in my area, and all would work fine "in a few weeks" On Apr. 26 I received a text stating that I live in a poor coverage area, and that it had been noted to my account. So I called to complain. They sold me a "signal extender" and told me it would fix the problem. It still dropped calls, and I have to be in the same room as the device (annoying at best) but at least I could call out most of the time. (it takes 1-2 minutes to connect a call) It is now August. All of my calls are being routed straight to voicemail, not showing up in my call log, and it take up to 3 days for me to get the vmail. (verizon removed the time date stamp on mssgs a few months ago, too many complaints about the delivery delay) Also 4 out of 5 calls out will not go through even when I am standing next to the signal extender. (when I bought the device they told me it would improve reception for my entire block, lol ) All of the people I know in this neighborhood have called numerous times to complain. They also state that they never had a dropped call prior to the merger. Choose another carrier. Don't get gulled like I did.
