Alltel reception is poor to none in the central portion of lake wateree and south towards Longtown and half way to elgin. Service is great on the upper and lower portions of lake wateree but poor to none in the central portion.

Phone useless at home. I get a signal around 18 or 20 miles from my house. It's annoying to pay the cell phone bills and can only use my phone when I'm miles away from my house.

Live directly across Lake Wateree from Shaw AFB Recreation. Hubby has Verizon, I have AT&T, both use same model phone. We both have the exact same "dead" spots around the lake except he always has more bars. I can loose service walking around inside house or sometimes even the back yard. Will be switching to Verizon next couple months when contract expires. Have sat on front porch and watched lightning strike the AT&T tower located off Hwy. 97 too many times. Have been without service over 24 hours.

Don't go to the lake with nextel. No coverage at all. Cingular is good, Alltel is fair and Nextel dosen't exist.

Lake Wateree area, had great reception with Alltel. Had great reception with Verizon until about a month ago. After a very long time (on my land line) talking with a Verizon tech, finally was told they no longer lease the tower I had been using. Would not comment on plans to reactivate the lease, etc. I hope to find the company that has the tower nearest me. Was thinking of switching from Verizon anyway because of other issues, today's conversation with tech rep made up my mind for me. I did not ask to be on Verizon--their reputation is so bad re billing issues--would not have gone with them by choice.
