I have had Verizon for many years and have recently moved to Gatlinburg off of Glades Road. I get no service at home and my cell is my only phone. I have to go down the hill to make a call. My husband has Boost and he has good service at home.

Verizon is the only thing that will work in the National Park. AT&T is DEAD. I am so happy with Verizon. I have had US Cellular, there phones are horrible and don't have a nationwide network. Verizon is amaing. Sprint doesn't even work here that well.

I have a love hate relationship with verizon. I love there coverage. but would love to change companies for rollover min or iphone. I travel alot for work and have many different helpers ride with me. I never have problems when they do. as for the gatlinburg area if you do not have Verizon or u.s.cellular good luck I live right at the enterance to greenbriar and I have 3 bars in my house if I walk outside I have all 5

We used to use Cingular but their service was awful in these mountains. Now we have U.S. Cellular and what an improvement. But I have noticed an interesting fact. My son has the same service provider but he has a different phone. He has an LG 6000 I think. I can not ever reach him! A phone type can make a huge difference. Also if I drive slower in a typical dead spot like the tunnel... .I hold on to my call and do not loose it. Weird.

I recently switched to Cingular from US Cellular and now my cell reception is about 26 times worse. It doesn't pick up anywhere near my office and it only works for about 15 minutes of my 50 minute commute. US Cellular picked up great at the office and worked for about 40 minutes of my commute. I hate Cingular.

I've had no service on my "state of the art" Blackberry the whole 3 days I've been here.

Reception comes and goes but never strong enough to make or receive a call.

Verizon is good just about anywhere I have been. Except in Cades Cove. I live in the mountains within the Gatlinburg city limits and have no problem with reception. I have noticed that I do have a few more dropped calls.

Downtown Gatlinburg area; River Rd and Roaring Fork Nature Trail; inside Timeshare buildings - never any problems making calls.

Had ATT since 1999, that service worked perfectly here in Chalet Village, since the switch to GSM in April, service is spotty to non-existant even at our home in Chalet Village where it was perfect before. Cingular says "we have lots of towers there" ---(not true). I have received many generic, unsubstantiated, unitemized, bills for small $$ amounts, which customer service cannot validate. They do extend credit, but are never sorry for attempting to "improve profit."

This is a very mountainous area and I had a signal EVERYWHERE up there. When I went to eat dinner, a lady kept saying "my phone just keeps saying searching." I asked her who she had and she said Cingular. So if you ever travel to Gatlinburg Sprint should serve you well
