no AT&T service while camping or anywhere close by. AT&T service in Knoxville has been very bad for the last 6 months for everyone that I know with this carrier. Will be changing at the end of my contract next month!

The whole area from Morell Rd.to Pelissippi Pkwy. is horrible. The phone constantly changes from Edge to 3G and each time it changes, it's "searching" for a while. It's not seamless at all. Every single call... ..EVERY ONE drops in my house. Blech... .I work for ATT and I'm thinking about switching to VZN.

Even with a new tower in area, this area still has poor coverage and you always drop a call.

I cant believe how awesome the iPhone is. By spending a few extra bucks on a better phone and on the rate plan each month I get a lot better reception. I have also noticed the quality of customer support is better. I'm sure cs noticed I had a junky, cheap phone and the lowest rate plan possible, thus cuasing customer service to treat me as if I meant nothing to them. I tried a cricket, sprint, us cell, and Verizon and most, with the exception of Verizon had terrible voice quality. Calls sounded like the perosn was talking thourgh a paper towel tube. AT&T is the best with call quality. Also, I dont expect cell carriers to provide service everwhere. Coverage is plenty ample for me. If adding more towers means increasing rate plans, then don't do it, let those living in none coverage areas move into coverage areas.

Our Cingular / AT&T cell phone coverage has gotten progressively worse over the past year. I was just at Norris Lake on a houseboat watching people chat away with Verizon and US Cellular while I had no service. I am a sportsman like my dad and travel a lot so I have seen my same coverage over the past three years be proven pathetic by friends or co-workers with different carriers get signals and service when I cannot. I have never had service when others did not. No service is perfect but Cingular is terrible if you get off the beaten path, trust me. Our family plan contract is up with Cingular and they are soon to be dumped like a dirty smelly rag. Verizon is our best choice since most of our friends and relatives use them. My friend has a $300 razor phone and his Cingular service sucks in the same spots as my cheap phone so it is positively their coverage area! My parents have watched in amazement like me when their friends are calling freely while they get a "NO SERVICE" message on their phones. Time to get real and drop Cingular, hope this helps

Reception seems to have gotten worse in the last year or so. In the house I used to get 2-3 bars and could make and recieve calls. Now I get 0-2 most of the time and lots of dropped calls. The Sequoyah Hills neighborhood assn has been fighting (successfully) the installation of a cell tower in the neighborhood for years so don't know it there is much hope for improvement. Ironic since most residents and their kids have cell phones.

Cingular service is poor. Lucky to get 1 bar at my house but only standing on my head in the far corner of my yard during a full moon. Many dropped calls all around the city. Voicemails without ever ringing.Verizon and US Cellular both work well where Cingular has no service.

This phone is my work phone, home phone, cell phone, etc. I have been with Cingular for ten years starting with the Bell South Mobility Days to present. I have never had as much trouble as I have this past year. Since the merger with AT&T wireless the reception has gone downhill. My wife and I are going to switch, but we are still deciding who we are going to use. We can't go on like this however: dropping calls, muffled voices, repeating ourselves over and over and over. It is ridiculous! My contract with Cingular is up this month so we are out of here! Looks like we are going to go with Verizon right now, but we will see.

My experience with Cingular has been poor since their acquisition of ATT. It is seldom that I complete a call without at least one drop. In my home in the Halls area, I show connected to the system, but with no bars of service. At least 50% of outgoing calls from my home office show "failed to connect". Technical support has failed to find a fix, and Warranty support is no help. Cingular's recent announcement of major investment to alleviate the Congular to ATT tower transition problem between "cells" tells the story, but the fix will take many months.

What a joke! Cingular can only muster 1 bar of signal in a heavily-trafficked area of Knoxville? Is this what they call a national network, because someone should sue them for mis-representation. I should have stayed with US Cellular. But I wanted the trendy Razr phone. My mistake and I'm waiting for my contract to expire. Avoid Cingular!

Lots of holes in reception in and around Knoxville\Halls. Tazewell Pike to Emory is usally at least 3-4 dropped calls. I-640\ Western Ave is usually a drop area. Some calls are clear, depending on your phone and exactly where you are. I am currently using a Nokia 3120, sent to me from Cingular to try before dropping them. I seem to have a bit better coverage in some of my previous problem areas, but still not the best. Still looking out for the best service provider out there...

Cingular has gotten much better over the years! I have had Cingular since it was Bellsouth! Plus since the merger with AT&T Wireless They have gotten that much better. People I know have had Sprint and Verizon. I will admit they are very great companies! But I will side with cingular! Since the merger I have not had one place that I havent had a signal! I LOVE IT! Plus for the price IT even Better! I have 4 phone on a family plan. I pay $130.00 Bucks per month. 1250 Mins and 1000 txt messages. and 10kbs of internet! Compare that !

I have had no trouble out of Cingular. It has worked great for me and I travel all over East Tennessee for business. I will admit, that the coverage was spotty in some major areas. However, since the merger with AT&T, the coverage has gotten 20 times better! Also, I was talking to one of the sales reps the other day and they said that Cingular was putting up over 100 new towers in East TN this years, just like they did last year. Also, I have many friends that have Verizon and their phones will not work some places on Broadway in Fountain City that my Cingular phone will work!
