With an antenna attached to the Modem, I get 3 bars. However, I have been informed repeatedly that the tower has too much congestion, and that is why my speed is not really different than dialup even on EVDO Rev. A Occasionally it will go up to 2 megabits, which honestly I dont expect. But I definitely expect far more than dialup considering the price! This problem with high congestion started shortly before thanksgiving and has been a constant problem since. At least, that is what Verizon is saying. Seems they need to upgrade some equipment to handle the increased use lately, Doesnt matter if it's night, early morning, even before sunrise, still have occasional good speeds but 1-2x dialup speeds and pings upwards of 1 / 2 sec is becoming the norm more than the exception. It is really pushing me to consider an alternate carrier as this is completely ridiculous. Unfortunately, line based is not an option due to rural location. Your results may vary, but I know I have not received the speeds I should this past month.

McEwen now has several cell phone towers. I live in a rural area of a rural county and I get full coverage. We had our land line turned off and only use our cell phones and have been doing so since 2008. There is one dead spot right at the Dickson / Humphreys county line where reception switches to a different tower. Your call won't drop but you'll be unable to hear for about 10 seconds.

We only get 1 to 2 bars of signal at certain places in our house. When we cross into Dickson Co. up Hwy. 70 then reception is good all the way to Nashville or to Ashland City via Charlotte. Humphreys Co. has definitely been neglected for tower reception
