HATE AT&T. I have been with them since I got my first cell phone 6 years ago, and when I moved to Nashville, I discovered my cellphone doesn't work in my apartment. I have to walk outside, and on cloudy days, it seems even worse. There is reception on Mufreesboro Rd., but once I turn in to my complex, I'll drop a call about 100 yards off the road. It's also pretty darn expensive to have a smartphone with text and data on this network.

AT&T in this area is fantastic no dropped calls or data failures. Data speeds are always above 2Mbps of download on my iPhone 3G. Very reliable and always 5 bars of coverage inside and outdoors.

If I am in my living room, I get 1-2 bars. I can still make and receive calls, as a rule, but I can have a dropped call if I turn the wrong way. My daughter works in Greenhills and has atrocious service. The voice reception is so distorted that she has to make different turns and twists for me to ever understand her. Sometimes it just drops the call. I take the bus downtown and see that the closer I get to it, the more bars I have.

When I go to my house down old hickory blvd. When I get closer I leterlaly lose bar-by-bar and when I get home the only places are really the far side of my porch and sit out there. But if I get on my bed I have to just get in the right position or no service. But if I start to go some where when I go back up my street I start to get service and when I get to the highway 12 intersection I have perfect service!

I get a few dropped calls and there are some "dead spots" (namely Ellington Parkway), but I hear everyone complain about their cell phone service and I complain less. Sometimes voice mails are LATE arriving. But my son switched to Verizon and had more complaints. I've been with AT&T for ten years and have nothign but good things to say about their support over the phone - except it sometimes takes too long to get a person.

AT&T is the worst service around. Don't get Cingular / ATT, the MOST dropped calls and the worst connection possible. I am locked into this contract until Feb 09 - and will be switching - it almost makes me want to go back to a Land line only phone. For the amount of money all these cell phone services charge everyone, they have made a killing.

OK, Bell Meade has the money from what I can tell to not allow towers in their community. Driving from Bell Meade Blvd. and cutting over to Old Hickory right in front of Christ Presbyterian Church and Academy, the signal drops every time.

Good service around I-65 but I commute from Clarksville and approx. 50% of the time I can't get signal along I-24. Have tried 3 different Motorola phones during the course of my plan and I must say they all stink, and so does Cingular-- the comments about horrible customer service and weird billing issues are no joke. Looking forward to switching at the end of this contract. I think 2 tin cans connected with a string would be preferable to what I've had the last couple of years...

I have always got wonderful reception in Nashville. I do get only a couple bars near Woodlawn and Sharondale. Great coverage in Hillsboro village although most of my friends with Verizon and Sprint get poor reception. I am more concerned with my data speeds which require a great signal and I always have 4 to five bars in Bellevue and Maryland Farms and everywhere in between. Otter Creek Rd in Green Hills there only seems to be a 1900mhz signal although many carriers do not work at all here because the tower is at the top of the hill and the RD run directly below it.

I live in Nashville,TN and I have excellent reception out of cingular.I have only had 2 dropped calls so far and it was because I was under a bridge.Cingulars reception has been very good for me.I also have multiple friends that has not had any problems with the reception out of Cingular.I used to have Cricket but I couldnt ever go outside of nashville with it and I have lots of family that lives in Antioch,Eagleville,Kentucky,Illinois, etc. But with Cingular it works there fine.Maybe its the location that you are in.I love Cingulars service. If you break your contract here you only pay $175.I guess that is only here though.

When picking up my daughter from Pioneer School, I might as well turn my phone off. Cannot call out / recive calls from this area. My boss has Verizon, and gets calls INSIDE our work place in Goodlettsville while, if my cell rings i have to go outside to make or receive a call. Contract likes 2 weeks from being up, gonna drop Cingular like a bad habit and switch to Verizon! Phones and Customer service sucks ! Promise you the moon but all you end up with is craters!

Cingular coverage in this area is horrid. Numerous dropped calls, missed calls, NO customer service. I can actually stand in the nearest Cingular store and I'll be in "Roaming" mode no matter what hardware we use. I've tried 2 Treo 600s, RazrV3, Sony T616 and two different NEC phones... all complelty disappoint on the Cingular network

Little to no reception. 2600 students do not think much of Cingular because of the lack of coverage in this area. Most switch to another company freshman year. I lived in Hendersonville and loved it, but needs a tower or two in this area.

Do NOT get Cingular if you live anywhere in this area. I have to go outside my house and get lucky to get more than 1 bar. I drop basically every call I make over 1 minute, and get voicemail and text messages hours after they have been sent. My friends stopped calling me! Friends and family with Cingular have the same problem in the area. Switching to Verizon.

Cingular has to be the worst of all the players in Nashville. I switched from T-Mobile 2 years ago, thinking I was getting a better deal, but I cant believe how many calls I miss. It drops calls, loses calls goes from 4 bars to 1 without me moving. Network gets overloaded, customer service is essentially nonexistant. Basically whenever I need to have a call, I have to borrow someone elses phone. My small business is saying BY - BY Cingular... PS - I think it got worse with the merger. Better coverage my eye....

You will drop service starting as you go up the hill at the gas staion by the apartments and won't pick it back up again until somewhere near Papa Johns. I have never had a call NOT drop in this location. I drive this route twice a day and need to make sure I wrap up my conversation before I begin climbing the hill. This isn't my only complaint. See the notes by Hwy. 70 and 100. Bad service is an understatement.

This has got to be the worst cell service plan I've ever had. I thought service would improve with the Cingular / ATT merger (as advertised... more bars in more places, not.) I can sit on my sofa and have full bars and after 10 minutes drop the call. If I stand at my living room window and hold the phone straight up, I won't drop a call until about 15 minutes into the call. I called CS and they said "Sometimes reception isn't very good in buildings. Turn your phone off for 5 minutes and try again. If things don't improve in 48 hours, call back." What the? How can I go from full bars to no service without moving? I can't use my cell phone in my house? I hate this service. I spend too much time saying "can you hear me now?" during a phone conversation. My contract is up in September and I will switch to another carrier.

Strong signal, but inbound audio is full of static x 3 months. Cingular customer service & tech support have been beyond worthless. Quality instantly improves when picked up by the towers at 100 / 70S split or I-40 / Old Hickory. I believe the tower at 100 and Natchez Parkway is the problem. Both phones on our plan lost inbound audio quality after 6 months of great service, and now have been problems since late June '04. I'll stay away from Cingular forever now just due to lack of competent customer service.

I have had more dropped calls in a day on Cingular digital than in the three years with AT&T analog. Network failures are common. I'll have 5 or 6 bars (6 is max) and calls won't go through. The advertised coverage areas are NOT accurate! I now expect ALL my cell calls to fail. If the 'merger / takeover' between cingular and AT&T doesn't help this I will take my family's number elsewhere. By the way, check your bill carefully.
