Towers VS Antenna: WOW, fact is simple, Verizon and Sprint use the same cell towers, while ATT and T-Mobile use the same towers. That's because of the type of signal they use GSM or CMDA. When you call from a Sprint phone, but are closer to a Verizon tower, your call goes through the Verizon tower, and vice versa. As you travel away from one tower toward another, the phone call gets transferred to the next tower that uses your signal type be it your company, or it's equivalent. Same with AT&T and T-Mobile. That's what is called Roaming. So the true question is how good is YOUR phone's antenna. This is why the debate seems to be never ending. One friend says his Sprint phone gets great reception, while another friend says he had Sprint and dropped them due to poor coverage. The likely case is the latter had a cheaper phone. So do your research first on which companies plan best suits you, then research the best phone that handles that companies signals. I chose Sprint due to their truly unlimited plans, that save me over the old ATT account we had. No surprise charges, and no data slow downs like ATT had. I then chose the EVO which had some good reviews for it's antenna, and voila, I have a great plan, and great coverage due to the type of antenna. Hope this helps you guys out.

AT&T in this area is fantastic no dropped calls or data failures. Data speeds are always above 2Mbps of download on my iPhone 3G. Very reliable and always 5 bars of coverage inside and outdoors.

Verizon works the best in our area. I always have service. My friend was on AT&T and had horrible service. We both went to Verizon and both got Tours and love them!

My Problem is I just moved here to Nashville with a Prepay Plan. and to make a call I have to dial the number twice to place a call caused Alltel is switching over to Verizon Towers. They can't tell me how long it will take. My Phone area code is 813 and would love to get the area code changed to Nashville. when you call Alltel customer service every operator you get to talk to has a accent from the beautiful country of the filipines and they are very rude, will hang up on you and they will not let you talk to a supervisor. They also tell you that if you switch over to Nashville area code I might have The same *Problem*

I get nearly full reception everywhere around town. The only time I lose some signal is coming into Green Hills on Hillsboro, from Old Hickory. Other than that, I've never had problems or even dropped calls! My only complaint is that we don't use 700 minutes between us, and would like fewer minutes per month to save some money. Not finding another carrier though that has that, short of going pre-paid.

I have always got wonderful reception in Nashville. I do get only a couple bars near Woodlawn and Sharondale. Great coverage in Hillsboro village although most of my friends with Verizon and Sprint get poor reception. I am more concerned with my data speeds which require a great signal and I always have 4 to five bars in Bellevue and Maryland Farms and everywhere in between. Otter Creek Rd in Green Hills there only seems to be a 1900mhz signal although many carriers do not work at all here because the tower is at the top of the hill and the RD run directly below it.

i have been using Sprint PCS for years now. but here and there I have tried using other carriers during their 15 day trial, but always end up back with Sprint. their service is the best I have used. at my job in the warehouse my service is strong. even Verizon fails there but not sprint! with wireless you have to find what works best for you, but if you use Sprint in the nashville area you should be happy!

I live in Nashville,TN and I have excellent reception out of cingular.I have only had 2 dropped calls so far and it was because I was under a bridge.Cingulars reception has been very good for me.I also have multiple friends that has not had any problems with the reception out of Cingular.I used to have Cricket but I couldnt ever go outside of nashville with it and I have lots of family that lives in Antioch,Eagleville,Kentucky,Illinois, etc. But with Cingular it works there fine.Maybe its the location that you are in.I love Cingulars service. If you break your contract here you only pay $175.I guess that is only here though.

Just switched from AT&T wireless (Cingular). I have never seen less than 4 bars on this phone along this route. Coverage is significantly better than Cingular (may be due to difference in phones, previous was Nokia 3595). Still waiting to see if I can drive down Chickering Rd in Belle Meade and not drop a call (my brother's loses it every time here despite being on Verizon (moto v60).

I have always had great service in and around Nashville with Cingular GSM service and legacy AT&T Wireless GSM service. I recently migrated from Cingular Blue (legacy AT&T) to Cingular. Same great GSM service I have always had.

Always a good signal in this area both outside and in my apartment on Acklen Park right off of West End. I've lived in Nashville a couple of months now and I get consistent coverage around town from T-Mobile. I usually switch providers whenever my contract is up just to get a new deal on phone and plan, but T-Mobile works so well for me I might keep it.

Strong signal, but inbound audio is full of static x 3 months. Cingular customer service & tech support have been beyond worthless. Quality instantly improves when picked up by the towers at 100 / 70S split or I-40 / Old Hickory. I believe the tower at 100 and Natchez Parkway is the problem. Both phones on our plan lost inbound audio quality after 6 months of great service, and now have been problems since late June '04. I'll stay away from Cingular forever now just due to lack of competent customer service.

When I go to my house down old hickory blvd. When I get closer I leterlaly lose bar-by-bar and when I get home the only places are really the far side of my porch and sit out there. But if I get on my bed I have to just get in the right position or no service. But if I start to go some where when I go back up my street I start to get service and when I get to the highway 12 intersection I have perfect service!

I get great service on highway 12 and beyond but when I go get at my house down old hickory blvd. I start to lose bar by bar. And the only place is on the far side of my porch and on my bed I get a bought 1,2, or 3 bars. So this my only problem it AT&T needs more service down old hickory blvd.
