Good reception, bad customer service, never paid a bill to a company who's customer service is so incapable of helping out customers. Rude people!

Reception constantly poor in most of Nashville. EDGE usually refuses to even work downtown. AT&T reception is embarrassing.

i have been using Sprint PCS for years now. but here and there I have tried using other carriers during their 15 day trial, but always end up back with Sprint. their service is the best I have used. at my job in the warehouse my service is strong. even Verizon fails there but not sprint! with wireless you have to find what works best for you, but if you use Sprint in the nashville area you should be happy!

Towers VS Antenna: WOW, fact is simple, Verizon and Sprint use the same cell towers, while ATT and T-Mobile use the same towers. That's because of the type of signal they use GSM or CMDA. When you call from a Sprint phone, but are closer to a Verizon tower, your call goes through the Verizon tower, and vice versa. As you travel away from one tower toward another, the phone call gets transferred to the next tower that uses your signal type be it your company, or it's equivalent. Same with AT&T and T-Mobile. That's what is called Roaming. So the true question is how good is YOUR phone's antenna. This is why the debate seems to be never ending. One friend says his Sprint phone gets great reception, while another friend says he had Sprint and dropped them due to poor coverage. The likely case is the latter had a cheaper phone. So do your research first on which companies plan best suits you, then research the best phone that handles that companies signals. I chose Sprint due to their truly unlimited plans, that save me over the old ATT account we had. No surprise charges, and no data slow downs like ATT had. I then chose the EVO which had some good reviews for it's antenna, and voila, I have a great plan, and great coverage due to the type of antenna. Hope this helps you guys out.

Near West End and 31st, corner of Vanderbilt Univ. Our house is in a Cricket dead zone caused by multipath interference (American towers, new condos). Complaint to Cricket was ignored by Cricket.

Always a good signal in this area both outside and in my apartment on Acklen Park right off of West End. I've lived in Nashville a couple of months now and I get consistent coverage around town from T-Mobile. I usually switch providers whenever my contract is up just to get a new deal on phone and plan, but T-Mobile works so well for me I might keep it.

AT&T is the worst service around. Don't get Cingular / ATT, the MOST dropped calls and the worst connection possible. I am locked into this contract until Feb 09 - and will be switching - it almost makes me want to go back to a Land line only phone. For the amount of money all these cell phone services charge everyone, they have made a killing.

Good service around I-65 but I commute from Clarksville and approx. 50% of the time I can't get signal along I-24. Have tried 3 different Motorola phones during the course of my plan and I must say they all stink, and so does Cingular-- the comments about horrible customer service and weird billing issues are no joke. Looking forward to switching at the end of this contract. I think 2 tin cans connected with a string would be preferable to what I've had the last couple of years...

Little to no reception. 2600 students do not think much of Cingular because of the lack of coverage in this area. Most switch to another company freshman year. I lived in Hendersonville and loved it, but needs a tower or two in this area.

In my home the signal fluctuates between zero bars and two bars. Very rarely goes above two bars but may briefly hit 3 bars sometimes. Drops cal at zero.

Do NOT get Cingular if you live anywhere in this area. I have to go outside my house and get lucky to get more than 1 bar. I drop basically every call I make over 1 minute, and get voicemail and text messages hours after they have been sent. My friends stopped calling me! Friends and family with Cingular have the same problem in the area. Switching to Verizon.

This has got to be the worst cell service plan I've ever had. I thought service would improve with the Cingular / ATT merger (as advertised... more bars in more places, not.) I can sit on my sofa and have full bars and after 10 minutes drop the call. If I stand at my living room window and hold the phone straight up, I won't drop a call until about 15 minutes into the call. I called CS and they said "Sometimes reception isn't very good in buildings. Turn your phone off for 5 minutes and try again. If things don't improve in 48 hours, call back." What the? How can I go from full bars to no service without moving? I can't use my cell phone in my house? I hate this service. I spend too much time saying "can you hear me now?" during a phone conversation. My contract is up in September and I will switch to another carrier.

I've been with T-Mobile (including Voicestream and before that, Powertel) since '01. I've always been pretty happy with the coverage in Nashville, but since Sept '08, my wife and I could not get reliable coverage in our own home 1 mile from downtown. This hadn't been a problem for several years in the same location. T-Mobile kept saying that they were working on the tower. A year later, the problem didn't get any better. Good customer service means nothing if they won't let you out of a contract when you can't even talk in your own home. We're dropping T-Mobile in December.

Horrible horrible reception using verizon. Calls are constantly dropped. Often can not dial out. Go from 5 bars to 0 bars constantly. I have not had more than a 5 minute conversation in the 6 years that I have lived in East Nashville. I don't know how their engineers managed to design anything as they have no real idea what is the problem. Have had the same issues with two others phones with Verizon. They're big, final answer "I'm sorry, we just can't guarantee coverage". Answer, "I'm sorry, but I just can't be your customer any longer".

I live in Nashville,TN and I have excellent reception out of cingular.I have only had 2 dropped calls so far and it was because I was under a bridge.Cingulars reception has been very good for me.I also have multiple friends that has not had any problems with the reception out of Cingular.I used to have Cricket but I couldnt ever go outside of nashville with it and I have lots of family that lives in Antioch,Eagleville,Kentucky,Illinois, etc. But with Cingular it works there fine.Maybe its the location that you are in.I love Cingulars service. If you break your contract here you only pay $175.I guess that is only here though.

9 times out of 10 I am cut off at this intersection. This is the only area in Nashville / Hendersonville that I have a problem. I was with Cingular for several years and lost calls all over Nashville. Have been with Verizon for 5 years and overall have been very pleased with the service. Just wish their rates were better.

AT&T in this area is fantastic no dropped calls or data failures. Data speeds are always above 2Mbps of download on my iPhone 3G. Very reliable and always 5 bars of coverage inside and outdoors.
